5. Start the game! Should work, and it is the game as it should have been at release instead of the horrible rolling train wreck that it was.
heheh, unfortunately so many people encountered the wreak that was released instead. They'd never even consider retrying it, that's if they didn't throw the disks out of the window in frustration. What annoys me with it, is how it's hurt developers trying to get financ

Did a search but got - Sorry, your search for 'Nexus' returned 0 results. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexus_the_jupiter_incident for those who've never heard of it. Came out late 2004. You built up a small fleet and went into combat in various missions. Think homeworld with just a handful of ships and combat requiring more managment. Kinda r

Aye Sotris, I think that's what I really like - that background story interwoven with the sandbox. MoO3, I patched and used a lot of community mods - but was over a year ago - and I actually enjoyed it then. Can't remember what it was, but actually saw some gems hidden in between the dross. Never played SE4 beyond a demo - got SE5, but as I say, I get lost in the mechanics rather than the game, end up getting bored and starting again.

RTS Conquest - very dated, but I still think it has a big edge on a lot of games since. If you've not played it you should. It was 2001? Remember all the RTS/4x games since and see where they went wrong by not doing stuff from it. It's a 2d RTS when every RTS was going 3d. Campagin has the funnest quotes in it. Characters were very good, a random unit response from an English character - Time for tea! Haegamonia - legions

Campaign modes are for shi... poops and giggles. Something to mess around with to give a little cerebral hook and a bit of titilation. This game in my (and the Clan I'm in) opinion is it's a one shot deal right now. People play around more within a storyline/campagin. They realise then just how much the AI sucks* and that gets them playing online. That story gets people playing, and keeps them playing

@ GHenrikG - With reference to combat, yeah I can see the rock paper sissors thang, as I said just seems 'light'. Managing those forces; I'm having to micro to stop my Javelis frig's parking next to enemy Kodiaks. A fleet formation would stop this, but not add the je ne sais quoi that I'm after. I just l

Blugh tried to quote GHenrikG and made a hash of that.... Random events: Yeah be nice to have - not just combat ones like pirates; Astroids and slavers in SotS, barbarians in civ, TW:rome/med2. More just random things occuring - investigating anomalies and the random planetary events in GalCiv, and the ones in IG2. Seen the artifacts, was kinda hoping there was more some mini game or sommat with them al'a sid meiers 'Pirates!' where

I'm simular to TeeWeeHerman - I want a 4x game, but to be honest this feels more like an RTS. Is that right? I've only played the demo - so I could be wrong.... It appears victory is only by conquest. GalCiv - moment - can you do it by "influence" with broadcast towers? Can you win diplomatically? Technology for a 4x seems very light - but very high for a rts. Can you win by tech - Civ/GalCiv like? Planetary de
