The exe supports both steam and epic, it just happens to check epic last. The problem is the steam api initialization has failed for some reason. Often due to steam client being old (check for updates). Or the steam client is not even running. In the next patch the log file will have a better description on why steam api initialization failed.
your log file should have something like this after starting the game (find log file in localappdata as well) ``` [21:54:16.7701179][ 14892][ modding_system] Syncing resource providers to enabled mods... I'm going to assume it is this mod, make sure your settings allow_not_compatible_mods is set to true. Either edit your setting file in %localappdata%/sins2/settings or ctrl+shift+s in game to bring up this window:
