If the minors could colonise, they'd basically just be another major. Only not in the UP, and you can't influence them. I disagree. If you have minors that can colonize then you have more opportunities for trade. I find that late in the game it's very difficult to keep decent cashflow when I'm breaking all of my trade routes because of war.

I second that upgrades should only be allowed on planets or starbases. Or possibly, within the influence of a starbase. The fact that you can upgrade many sectors away from your closes planet or starbase is a little too farfetched, and very exploitable.

I finally finished my humongous game at intelligent difficulty. Unfortunately that level of difficulty wasn't difficult enough so i'll have to move it up a few notches for my next game. Here are some annoyances that I hope get addressed. - If I'm zoomed all the way out in icon mode and click on the newly built ship icon on the right side, the game should always center on the planet that created the ship. Currently, if the planet is in vie

I had 'drop to desktop' issues with the first version and the final beta. They were still there after the first patch. They seem to be completely gone now. The game seems to be much more stable now, but I have seen a few weird things. One thing that was really weird (with the current patch) was I captured an altarian planet and had a bunch of my ships occupy the planet. For about 5 turns afterward the planet kept showing 4 altarian friga

I had tons of problems with galciv1, I could only beat it at sub-human. The AI was simply too good at colonizing planets and expanding influence. After my first game at sub-human in galciv2 I discovered a few strategies that have made my second game at Hard (All races are intelligent) an easy affair. Here are some of my personal strategies.... - Colonize as many planets early (obviously). I set the production meter to 100% and buy colony ships early on. By the time

My first full game went pretty well, but there are still lots of bugs, sadly. Here's a list that I noticed: 1. After taking over a planet, sometimes the icons don't change when you zoom out to icon view. In addition, it appears that some did change, but the old icon didn't disappear so they kinda overlayed eachother. 2. Frequent crashes to desktop. Unfortunately it happened about 20 times while I played my game (which took about 24 hours to complete) 3. Some a

This message board has tons of issues with firefox and opera. I have a weird issue where I'm logged in, but the system doesn't act like I am. So when I try to download the patch it's telling me to register even though it says welcome bigtrouble77 at the top. If I try and fill out the form it breaks 75% of the time. Hopefully you guys can test the site for alternative browsers. I understand that'll be difficult being that you use asp, but it's worth it.

I have only one thing to say... No freaking DRM!!! Maybe there is hope. Stardock has the greatest distribuntion method ever. No DRM, no download limits, nothing to make me feel like a criminal for buying the game.... Proof that distributers can be reasonable if they choose to. Only thing I'm not too crazy about is how dependent they are on microsoft technology. I run linux 90% of the time and refuse to upgrade to vista. I hope that won't be an issue in the future.

I run galcivII on a geforce go 7800gtx overclocked in a laptop. If the game is too stressful on the card then I'd be the first to know. Now it may be a bug with running in SLI mode. BTW, you thread title is terrible. Try be a little more specific next time and avoid making rampant claims you can't back up.

I have a 4800+ chip and never had any issues. Only issue I have is that the game frequently drops to the desktop, but I think that's because I'm playing the same game through a few of the betas to the final product. So, I don't think anyone is SOL (no pun intended). Just be patient and try to get all of the updates. I had to get SP2 and all of the ms patches working for the proper cool and quiet driver to install. God I hope the Cedega g
