If you play as the Drengin, you have death furnaces for that sort of thing

Pirates aren't that bad. Just treat them like dreadlords and destroy them with large fleets of small defenseless ships. It might be possible to nerf the pirates by editing the GC2Ships.xml file if you want to try that though.
Unfortunately you get charged for absolutely everything except that ten percent bonus from the moon.
I love tiny hulls in the campaign. A fleet of six tinies, I believe, is the best way to destroy a deadlord ship before it can shoot back. At least until they build that ship with a shield rating of thirteen...
Wow, I love your style! Every time I see screenshots like this, it reminds me how narrowminded I've been.
This is just a guess, but I think the only way to get the design back is to edit the save file. But don't worry over the core ships -- you can always design better yourself.
There was a cloaked ship in the old OS/2 galciv game but it turns out it was not fun at all. So it was tried and discarded long ago.
Yeah, transports are great at population control. You can even tranfer population between worlds with them. They are great things to build in times of peace along with constructors as long as you sit them outside of a planet's orbit (so that the population can regenerate).
Ooh! IB, what fun. One thing about the IB, though, is that grades and work are not necessarily related. And the extended essay is, in my opinion, the greatest timesink with the smallest returns. You can utterly fail it and still get the diploma with a ToK essay written the morning it is to be mailed off. With that said, I hope you get the two or three bonus points you deserve if you make a dedicated effort. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/g
Actually I believe the number of races is hardcoded, as well as the number of ship styles. You can change anything, but adding additional styles and races is not supported at the moment, if I remember correctly. I think they are trying to change that though.
While the lines are not anything like borders to begin with, there are a couple of united planets issues that can be passed which change things. For example, starbases outside of your sphere of influence could be hit with a tax.
BigMcLargeHuge, you are my hero. My best was seventeen hours and nowadays I can only seem to get eleven. I've rediscovered my love of reading and Final Fantasy VII. Also, watching the tutorials helps. The only video/image/song/sound files I have not played from the preload are the three that have names telling me they are campaign spoilers.
If I've been reading correctly, alignments can be changed and are not defined in terms of buildings and technologies until you research an ethical technology in which you choose good, neutral or evil. Before that there is just an ethical score out of a hundred which affects the AI behaviour.
I think the rationale was something like it was not practical to spend enough time to work out game balance issues and AI treatment.
As I understand it, the smallest craft you can build are more like corvettes than snub fighters. They are designed to function on their own for long periods of time and a handful of people will live inside the smallest ship.
I think there is the option to focus spending on individual worlds. You can focus on military, social or research. It is not very efficient but it improves one field at the the cost of the other two.
The spacebar also seems to pause bink video, in line with media player convention.
Does this tech stealing even work with weapons, making it easier than ever to surprise the enemy with attacks against which she has no defence? If the answer to that is "yes," is it possible for the most advanced technology in that line to be stolen before inferior prerequisites? 'casue that would be awesome. The spies would have the budget for the coolest gadgets.
This one is also awaiting an empire with an interesting name and logo. And by interesting this one means battletech-esque.
I think I'm going to hold out for a House Davion or something of that nature At least until I finish the campaign.
I plan to play against three sub-normal AI on a medium map as the Arceans my first game. My only ambition is to not be the first to go
I actually find Lord Doom's english very easy to understand, although slightly phonetic. This debate is refreshing to read compared to some of what I've read on this other board. Link
I could be wrong, but that 600MHz processer might be the biggest problem. I would not be surprised if turns took longer than they should. The game would probably work, but you'd want to stay away from large galaxies, limit the number of opponents and play against lower difficulty levels of AI.
I've always been most interested in the Arceans, so I plan to lead them into my first sandbox game. After that race will probably be chosen based upon which bonus best suits researching my way to military superiority.
Now that is amazing But isn't the population supposed to represent the number of productive citizens (taxpayers) and not mouths to feed? Perhaps for every person who pays taxes there are a few hundred who can't spare the credits.
