I had an issue with Camera.setting and a few of the setting files that couldnt be loaded at start up. Seems the files were empty and deleting them from the c:\documents and settings\username\application data\ironclad games\sins of a solar empire\settings folder enabled me to progress into the game without any further trouble (have set intro to false in user.settings of course).Hope that helps anyone else in a similar situation! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" bor

Interesting post, obviously you feel strongly about this and I can respect that however I don't really understand it. I will try and tread lightly so not as to offend. I think if you are concerned but interested in the game; and you want to share the experience with your kids then you need to be responsible and supervise them playing it. Judge their reaction to the ideas in the game and talk to them if you don't like the reaction. let them make up there own minds afterall it is only a

I too have to agree about the limiting the AI knowing where things are in advance. Personally I really hate the initial 'rush' for things in

Thanks CariElf, I just thought I'd point it out. Funny thing is I never even thought about the effects on the sales. I was more worried/miffed that they couldn't even give the recognition to the game that inspired them so much :). ~SDC~

Just came across this... open source project. Looks to me to be a Galactic Civilisation Clone. http://fsc.sourceforge.net/ https://sourceforge.net/projects/fsc/ Now I doubt anything illegal or 'bad' is going on but from the websites it doesn't mention anywhere that the Game Design or even the graphics are inspired by Galactic Civ. Gameplay looks the same, ship names the same, start with a scout and colony ship, same political parties, same shortcut keys... the interfa

Thanks Jake its good to hear (about the pause button ) , just one question if a connection is dropped will the download pause by default? If so I think I have a chance of trying out some of these new titles .

@GoblinCookie - agreed, if morale is too low for too long trigger the event (plus I wouldn't mind the population actually fighting for eachplanet instead of immediately taking them). @TheRealChronus - yup, only once did they do anything in my games (4 planets of the Drengins 8 planets) and even then went straight back (1 was taken back the others culture flipped). That was a while ago, haven't had any in my later games though. Usually the event triggers against an enemy but nothing happ
When downloading the stardock games individual files are downloaded...
I didn't get to edit this in time sorry, this isn't always the case for Stardock games but things like GC, GC mutimedia, Political Machine etc it is... big 'game components' downloaded a file at a time instead of at once in a big zip. ~SDC~

Well I just finished redownloading all the stardock games without problems. That includes things like Galactic Civs Multimedia (over 300 megabytes). So its only the new downloads I'm having problems with.. When downloading the stardock games individual files are downloaded... if it cancels only the last file is lost and needs to be redownloaded. In another words, it correctly resumes but you need to redownload half downloaded file when it canceled from scratch. The new games o

If you remove the registry entries the prog can't tell what was installed previously. An easy fix is to restore an archive (In the past I even zipped up files I had and restored the zip file to solve this problem ;) don't know if it works with this version though). If you don't have an archive file then I guess you'll have to add the registry entries which would require knowing the prog you have installed (maybe a kind soul with that game installed will export the registry entr

yup, this happens to evil players from memory.. though in the past it did very little to my enemies :(. You have to fight fundamentalists to get them back or if your lucky win them back with culture. Sorry but rusty on this event. Although I saw no problem with the event in the past, thinking about it now it would be nice if the planets would revolt a turn before changing and give you a warning. Then then treat it like a troop invasion (the % of fundamentalists vs loyalists). e

that does cancel <- thankfully you knew what I meant Frogboy.... this should have been "doesn't". Yup I noticed the cancel button alright and have used it by mistake on many occasion especially when distracted <img src="http://images.stardockcentral.net/images/smiles/l

Nevermind, seems to be working now... just wish there was a stop button for downloading that does cancel, like a pause button. At the moment I exit stardock central to achieve the desired effect (if I want to use the net between downloading ). I'm happy its working but after having a few times were it restarted I'm left wondering when I'll have

Thanks Moser, unfortunately for me I know that already. I'm almost certain that when I click install again it starts again... from the beginning. It does the same with updating too. Basically this means the non stardock games are out of reach. Throw in my added problem that my internet disconnects after 5 hours, this also cancels the download. Anyway thanks Moser :) your reply has me thinking now, I'm going to recheck to make sure anyway. [Message Edited]

I'm on a 56k modem with a fresh install of the latest stardock central, my problem is my downloads don't resume...they start from scratch. This means I can't download any of the new games , If anyone can help me out it would be great.

I'm on a 56k modem and while the downloads take a while, thats fine with me. I've completely reinstalled, stardock central with the latest version and am impressed. Its stable and there have been no crashes or major issues. I'm also impressed with the new look of stardocks gaming website, very nice and clean. I've had some issues with restoring my archives... they don't install properly or update properly. So I've deleted them and will start a new.. no problem there, a nice fresh st

The campaign is fun and a welcome change but as the text/story needs filling out a bit in my honest opinion... it falls short of creating an atmosphere need for this galaxy. Thats just my opinion though ;). This might be because of the typos and use of english detracting form a good story.... anyway a good look through the campaign text and fixing up some errors should make: the drath not control the drath and that would be batter. <- creative use of some errors I found LOL .

Sry this post is a duplicate posts (using the website it told it had errored obviously it didn't). This is annoying as stardock central crashes every time the discussion text is updated, making it stardock central nigh impossible to use... dont try and tell me how I can fix it... it never works (can't wait for stardock central 2). AP Mission 6 "Unsuspecting Allies" - Typo in Description : "lack of a batter term" should be better, not batter. Also the victory text after culture victory not displayed maybe just a freak occurance? Who knows. I'll see if I can get it to not show again some time (though I really had a hard time with that mission so I might just see if the end save works, maybe use a later save and try to win through conquest). Also from the "Torian Vengeance" mission : 'Drath were using
