HAHAHAHA... I love how no one is reading the OP and just keying on the word epic. This thread is epic win.
That is what happens when someone uses a word in a completely inappropriate context. It would be like starting a thread with the title: "Why are the battles not scientific enough?" or "Why is the character development not green e
And see this for a link to MoM 2.0. https://forums.elementalgame.com/396427
Is this compatible with 1.4? Or only usable on 1.31? Because both 1.4 and 2.0 seem very tempting, hoiw to decide which one to use? I want both!
Epic just describes a long story, I do not see how it applies to computer gameplay at all. Or are you asking for a long backstory that rivals Homers Ilias and Odyssee?
I'd have to say that it's the brevity of MoM's many little animations that make it compulsively playable: taking the time out to watch the slow and choreographed 3D anims in many modern games just sends me into vegetation mode.
I agree! People always say graphics are so much better today, but are they really better, or just more expensive? I think graphics have taken a step down since about 2002
the MOM license is still out there and it is possible that a company will eventually make a true MOM sequel someday. who knows, perhaps it is being worked on at this very moment! i wouldn't mind seeing what katuri (kings bounty series) would do with MOM2.
Licenses are just names, look at Orion 3. We need the games lead designer Stephen Barcia to return to making strategy games like Master of Magic and Orio
I cannot agree. The past week I have spent most of my days playing Master of Orion 2, it is still amazing fun, and while playing it I feel so engrossed in its world and not more than 10 years ago. It is the same fun. And I have only discovered Master of Magic last year, it is a great game, and those are not memories. Before that I played 1869 for a week, a 20 year old amiga game I played as a 12 year old. I had more fun with it than with any game that has been released in the past yea
It had no balance. It had no AI.
Ok the AI was bad, that annoys me greatly. And it was unbalanced, but why is that bad? What is so good about balance? Balance sucks, it means everything is equally viable. In other words boring. This is not starcraft or a MMO. Unbalanced means there are fun things to try out. Who really uses a game like Master of Magic for competitive online play? Maybe 1 of a thousand prople and those can mod the
I think that is what makes Spellforce special, I really enjoyed those games, the mix of RTS and Action RPG was very refreshing and new. Sure they were not perfect or very well done, but unique games always have a special place in my heart. Considering turn based games, I will definitely try out Dominions 3 after reading this thread, it has slipped by me so far. I can also recommend playing Master of Magic, even if you never did before or are scare
