Thanks! What do you know: I appear to have 4 PCI slots and judging by what's attached to the back of them I have my SoundBlaster Card and telephone modem pluggged into two of them. My video card (the monitor cable hanging onto it was a big clue) already seems to be in the AGP slot, so it should be a straight swap job for a new card. I presume an AGPX4/X8 spec card is backwards compatible if not at the higher transfer rate? I feel almost ready to apply for my c

Hmm, I thought all my slots were PCI...but if there *is* an AGP one that would be good I shall poke around inside it when I get home. After installing a new master disc drive last month I'm feeling almost competent about doing it!

Not an answer to your problems but on a related topic: I was thinking of upgrading my GeForce4 4200Ti video card but then discovered that the new ones use PCI-e rather than PCI slots so I'd need an entirely new motherboard! Might as well start again from scratch with a new system as far as I can tell then.

Well, they may be on the expensive side but I liked the way I could configure my system on the Dell website to my specification and have them build and deliver it. I did that for my home system and several at work and have never had a problem with it.

Well, what do you know! How did I miss that? Firefly even has its own wikipedia page. How could Fox cancel it? I hope SciFi channel will pick it up but I suspect Fox will want too much for the rights. Apparently, there are murmurings of further movies however.

Hmm, it seems just as momentum was building with the Ori (or however its spelt) storyline than SG-1 comes to the end of the Season. Is it me or was that suprisingly short? I find the split tech screen tough to deal with. I like having the list of techs available to research next and also having the whole tech tree layed out so I can trace where I want to go. On the same screen though its all rather crowded. I think separating them would be a good idea.

Those definitely are better but the designs are a bit intricate to make for easy differentiation. Pop up text would help there I guess, but a simpler bolder design would be easier to take in at a glance.

It might be good to be able to sort the database results in more ways so you could get the ranking for different races, difficulty levels, morality. I will never top the overall metaverse but I might be able to specialize and become the best chaotic good, Drengin player on large maps at a challenging setting I agree with the difficulty icons: I cant tell if they are pictograms or just moderm art:

How much does it cost to run a MMORG anyway? Couldn't they just downsize the bandwidth and number of servers to match the user base? I guess they would still need to pay for maintenance and admins but to my naive business mind it would seem that costs were pretty scalable to match the income.
