I am looking at some of the UI files to see what I can mod. I have Desktop X builder and can open the UI files, but I am a little confused at where to start my changing. Anyone a desktop X expert that wants to point me to a good tutorial to get my feet wet with modding Desktop x widgets?

Yes, I am. I find that I have CTD anytime I play the campaign and open the spell book. (just one example of many).
Hmm...I decided to go ahead an purchase WBC3, but it crashes constantly for me. I can't play even for 2-3 mins without a CTD. I've sent an e-mail to SD to see if they can help, but my recommendation is that Win 7 64bit is not a compatible OS with WBC3 :(
Nostalgia, I suppose. However, it does have a lot of customization for the Hero, and you get to keep units from game to game. The different races play differently (not all are balanced). It just is fun! Nothing special just a good rts before rts became so abundant.
Brad, I've got to say. I love SD because of how you guys handle your customer interaction. Being a software developer, I actually love seeing the software evolve and mature (not that I wouldn't have preferred a resounding successful launch for Elemental), so I for one am in it for the long haul, and I appreciate your openess and truly wish the best for SD & Elemental.
Also might be nice to weight certain resources more heavily (i.e. 1 metal > 1 gildar), just a thought. This will be a great addition. Looking forward to it.
RavenX, I think this one will be good as well. It is a simul-release for PS3 & PC though, so I am a little concerned about the "simplified controls" that some of the previews talk about. In any case, this one is on my list to check out.
A bit off topic I guess but since it was mentioned...doesn't the absense of a demo help facilitate/encourage pirating because people want to see what it is all about? Stardock has gone a long way to show their faith in their customers (that's a good thing) but the lack of a demo also seems to cause undue temptation for others. I do not think my statement can be proven but it occured to me as I was reading this thread.

Now, fast forward to now. Now it's relatively easy to add new types of resources and I can get in the concept of specialists which are essentially your population -- every 10th citizen can be a specialist which you can then be used to have a merchant (instead of using food) or a study (instead of it costing gold) and so on. Right now, the ONLY resource I have to work with that doesn't "store" per turn is food whi
Yes you are dumb... to release this game while not taking beta tests....
??? What! I was in the beta test for about 1 year. Trust me when I say that the game changed extensively in that time for the better. yes, there are some problems that need to be fixed, but if there was no beta test, the game would have been very different (and not in a good way). Look at the dev journals first. <p
Novaburst, I'll check out your tutorial. I think you are right on. They simply don't have the same animations that the humans do (which makes sense).
Glad to have you back. Congrats on the new little one. I'm anxious to see how things continue to grow and develop. Thanks for the update. Absolutely agree on the tooltips. That would do a world of good. Better than a tutorial if you ask me.
Fair enough. Thanks for the information.
I am on Win 7 64 bit with a Radeon HD 5770 (1GB) with 4 GB RAM and I haven't had any crashes period. I did update the drivers to the latest version.
I am looking through the files to understand how you did all of the changes, and I came upon the Gnilbert_Training_Assassin_Ability in the Gnilbert_SpecialTraining_Abilities.xml file. I noticed that the weaken game_modifier says it adjusts a unit stat, but then never acutally specifies which stat it adjusts.
Unit &nb
I'd say the first thing I want is a document of what values can be used in each tag and what they do. An xsd if it is available would be great (as long as there are some comments.).
I noticed that my sovereign can not equip traveling boots at all. He can purchase them, and he can have them in his inventory, but when I go to equip them, they just don't show up. Is this working as designed, or should the sovereign be able to equip boots like this. edit: This also happens with cloaks that add movement.
Hi everyone, I am looking at creating a monster based faction (specifically based on trolls). I have successfully created a troll sovereign, and I have created a troll race type, but the thing that is troubling me is that the unit creation and mediallion creation is not working (model doesn't show up in the medallion or have any poses available.) I understand this is likely a limitation of the skeleton and not that big of a deal, but just curious if a
Quick question: Can the "monster" heroes equip other items or are they stuck with what they start with?
I noticed that Sovereigns use the World nameset rules. Anyone else see this. Seems a little odd don't you think?
Hooray. I'll try it out. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for trying. I appreciate the effort. I'll have to see if SD has any ideas. Thanks again!
Where do you enter your code to get the content?
This is not good if our game breaks every time an update is released because we are using mods. It's easy to find the culprit now since there are so few mods, but when we have dozens installed down the road we're going to be screwed.
That unfortunately is the reality if you use mods. There really isn't a way around it. Icecrown has made a copy of the 1.07 spells and added his own effects, for 1
I don't know if this is a known bug, but the first time I load up the cartographer (map creator) it works fine, but if I try to create a new map after the first, the game crashes (becomes unresponsive and has to be shutdown manually from Windows). I am running Win 7 64bit Home edition Radeon HD 5770 1GB
