Great info here. The AI challenges you need to handle are particularly interesting to me. Thank you for sharing. As a novice AI programmer, I love reading about your approaches to things. How you "sneak" in information to the player so that the AI can use it too, without it being cheating. Great stuff! Looking forward to getting my hands on the beta to test this out.
Murteas
I say combine them. I personally would use all of them, so for me I would put them all together.
Excellent. That is a great design. Give the player options. I like it.
Looks good. Two remarks though: 1) I'm assuming the single build queue for construction and training was done for gameplay/balancing reasons? I rather liked Ewom's separate queues. Once you have more than a few dozen people living in a settlement, there is no reason why construction and training can't be done at the same time (immersion-wise). I just hope it's not because there is so little to build the construction
Wohoo! Can't wait to try this out with the beta. I like the changes you've show us.
Glad to have you back. Wish you the best. Excited to see what the future holds for Stardock.
They pushed back the release but not the beta,
Is this true? I had assumed the beta is going to be pushed back as well. So when are we looking at getting the beta? Considering the game was supposed to be out this fall, I assumed the beta would have already started had that still been true.
So to the devs what do you intend to offer loyal customers of WOM as any kind of incentive to continue to be a customer of Stardock? All posing about customer loyalty aside, they plan to offer the only thing that ever gets anyone to continue being a customer of any (non-service-based) company: a product that people want. In this case, a good game. Frankly, most of the people who bought WoM and we
Fair enough. I can certainly understand disappointment in EWoM Multiplayer, it certainly isn't compelling to play at all.
For the SP game, they have acknowledged it yes. For the MP game go ahead and read some of Brad's posts in this forum. It's more like "we never promised tactical combat in MP". They've also said FE MP will use a similar direction and not be like SP, so it's not going to get fixed (unlike SP). When it comes to MP, they really don't care.
Tridus, I don't know what to say. Stardock does not have
Maybe you are the one that is wrong here. Maybe companies should be held accountable for delivering a product that is different than what they advertise. It doesn't make it an acceptable practice just because you are used to it happening. It would be one thing if it were a little buggy; it is another to not offer the features on the side of the box or a product that actually functions from the start of a new game until the
I've given the moo3 devs (quicksilver I believe) many years to fix their game. Can I get a refund too? How about Empire total war, it never delivered on its multiplayer Campaign promises, should I ask CA for a refund as well? Windows 7 still blue screens on me sometimes and UAC still bothers me, should I get a refund for it too? I think you've gone a little far, even for the entitlement crowd.
You know you get Fallen Enchantress for free right? And by the way, did you ask EA for a refund on Spore? Did you get it? A little late (after over a year) to ask for a refund, don't you think. In any case, Brad is still working on EWoM, and it might still become a good game, but for me I am looking toward FE as being closer to what I want. Best of Luck.
Quoting kapeman, reply 19See MOO3... Heh. I lurked on their pre-release forums for years. I played the game for weeks, and most of that was banging my head against the wall in denial.
Me too. So sad! Although those forums are where I learned about Stardock and GalCiv, so I guess something good came of it.
Overall a good start. In the beta I will be looking for answers to the following questions: A. Does the AI know how to use magic both strategically and tactically? B. Will the AI execute different strategies for magic. (i.e. I don't want to see only Sovereigns that are Masters of Fire) C. Will there be more tactical spells that affect the battle adn the battlefield in different ways? D. Wil
Quoting Heavenfall, reply 155I don't like those total blocks at all. Rather have spells that boost defense against other spells or such. That way you can maintain a balance between offensive spells and dispels. Otherwise, it's all about dispels. Dispels should have a chance to fail just like everything else. Agreed, but it's an easy problem to fix: Downpour: Extinguishes enflamed units and i
I figured I would come across as a fan boy, but I don't necessarily consider myself in that category. I am a professional software developer, so maybe that puts me in a different mindset when it comes to communication with the developers. In any case, I think that whether you like or dislike a piece of software you can choose to be respectful to those that are creating it. I think a lot people are very rude/demanding on forums sometimes, just assuming that it&
Looks like you are on Shader 3.0, so that should be okay. Integrated graphics are always a little tricky to get working with games, and it can vary game to game about what works and what doesn't. Have you run anything like 3dMark vantage to see if you run into any problems with it? It might help you flush out if this is limited to Elemental or a general card proble
"subscribing" to this post so I can find it when putting together the next version of the Grimoire.
ONce again great job. I am going to keep track of these so I can find them again. [e digicons][/e]
Excellent. I hope you'll let us use these in a mod if they aren't picked up by Stardock for the game itself.
Really discouraging to me to hear all the complaining, and I am not even on the dev team. I don't necessarily disagree with the desire to have more spells, and in fact I would love to contribute to creating those spells (with Murteas' Grimoire or something simiiar), but the way people are demanding and even predicting a complete failure at this point is ridiculous. Give feedback, and suggest spells, encourage, and give advice - don't berate, belittle or predic
What card are you using? Can you attach a dxdiag log to your post (instructions are in the sticky in this forum for what information Stardock might need). It sounds like it is very likely a problem specific to your card (either drivers or heat issues), but to rule this out, it would be good to see what version of shaders you're using, and what the capabilities of your card are. Also, have you sent an e-mail to <a href="mailto:support@star
Emperor_Nero, NP. I'm sure Stardock will work with you to get the game. If they can't for some reason, I am positive that the community can help you out.
But some of us don't have superb internet, which is why I was saying that I wanted a physical copy of the game. I use satellite internet and I am limited to 300MB per day download, they're 5 of us sharing it and that dwindles down quickly. The only time I could possibly download it is between 2 and 7 AM and then it is only getting 100 - 150 kbs download speed. So, a physical copy for some people are better. You are not thinking of both
