In Elemental, you're limited to one weapon and certain gear slots. The weapons don't give special abilities or things that would really distinguish them. The main decision is "bow or mace". If I had a choice between say a +6 bow or a +3 Frost Arrow bow, that would be interesting. But instead I have a +6 bow and a +3 bow... and why the hell would I ever not use the +6 bow?

But now they've waded into the AAA market, with AAA prices and AAA expectation

Nice map! I hope there will be a sandbox option in the game where we can play in that world, both single and multiplayer. The logo could be a tad downward (not so close from the map) or a bit more reduced.

No exclusive in-game content: check. How about...? - Soundtrack - Digital Artbook - Digital posters - Digital map from Destiny's Embers - Making of Elemental video Don't like the name Digital Deluxe Edition? How about Digital Special Edition? Whatever. It would be nice to have something extra beyond the traditional boxed stuff.
I think he means that with a digital deluxe you get in game stuff that makes your game different from a "standard" version. The special boxed edition gives you cool stuff to play with but the same game. I for one like the cool stuff to play with
It's up to the developer/publisher to add whatever they want. I'd love to have some bonus content included in my digital-only purchase. Something like the making of Elemental, soundtrack, digital versions of artbook, Bradley Wardell's best-selling novel (coff, coff), maps, among other possibilities. The boxed limited edition is nice but in my case the less physical stuff I have, the better, especially with games. Others simply like everything digital. So, how about it? It's still some extra bucks that you guys would be able to get from s

Download won't be a problem. Just be aware that internet speed in China is generally capped at 4mbit. Still enough to download in due time, except for hotels which will be fairly slow to download from. If you're into facebook, twitter and google docs, you better have a proxy.

Might as well for Bradley to write a new book on how he managed to run a company, direct the development of a new game, and write a novel based on that game. How much new white hair did that take? ;)
I think that the game won't be released in this year. Just take a look at the BETA forums...Maybe I am wrong, we shall see. Either way, I am not worried at all, because this game must be close to perfect @ release, so I don't mind, if it will be released in 2011. [Close to perfect = No bugs, CTDs, gfx gliches, everything works like a charm - techs, spells etc & good balance.]
I hope the game won't get released this yea
There isn't less stuff to build. We are greatly reducing repetitive building (unlimited gardens, multiple workshops, multiple studies, etc.). In XML, we can, literally, define how many of a given improvement you get per city level, per faction, etc. So we're playing around with balancing this because we were finding that building up a city was more chore than fun.
Awesome!

Sweet deals and a lot more to choose from for someone like me who is outside North America or Europe. Lack of service from most digital retailers makes me prefer Steam first and foremost.

Buildings It becomes boring to spam the same type of building as the city grows. Streamline: only one building of the same type is built; as city grows, that building gets upgraded. Roads and caravans Too much micromanagement here. Automate caravans and the gradual establishment of roads, similar to what was in BETA 1. There's already a lot to do, and this only adds to grinding the more cities a player has. The initial ro

The game starts in a desolate world. How come there are inns right from the start? The sovereign/player should first focus on getting its civilization to a bare minimum. Let's say that a certain number of cities are built, or that the first city reaches a certain level. A message pops up saying: "From humble beginnings, your people is prospering! Explore the questing opportunities that can be found in inns throughout the land!" Presto, the inns and related quests are enabled by the re

Elemental is already going for a lot of different things. I really like how the RPG elements are being added into play. Families are a nice, intuitive addition. As for building my cities and the different structures, this requires a good deal of thinking in a good way; there is a noticeable pattern which will most likely become clearer as the game gets polished. With the critters that spam all over the map, most of them need to get nerfed 'cause it really sucks for my Sovereign and quests get

@Morlark There's never enough research, especially when you want to prolong the awesomeness of a game!
