Fascinating analysis. I'll have to give it more thorough readthrough. I run www.race2004.net, a site that does the exact opposite of your analysis. We project the presidential winner based strictly on statewide polling data. We sometimes have some funny abberations because polls aren't 100% accurate and because different polls make different assumptions regarding Nader on the ballot. That being said, if the election were held today

Hi, I just played a game with the latest version on Stardock. I started making a list of errors until I realized they were the same errors I pointed out in my last message. I'll submit another list once you address the 30+ typographical / game errors I pointed out last time. It's a fun game (and better balanced than in the last version), but it's not worth my time to point out the same typos over and over and over and over... -

Thanks, Frogboy. I'll play again when you have version 4B out. As far as I'm concerned, the balancing on this version is off and it's not very fun to play. I enjoy a challenging game, but that should be done by improving the computer's AI, not by allowing the computer to cheat (or receive bonuses) so greatly that it isn't a fair fight. --Aaron

Just played another game. Again, the computer waaayyy outspent me and raised way more political capital than I. If I created a webmaster it lasted for perhaps two turns before my opponent wiped it out with a fixer. Eventually I stopepd bothering. It had half a dozen or so fixers in the game. Quite brutal, and it made operatives a bit less useful. Annoying, since without webmasters I couldn't hoped to match the computer in terms of money. Not a

Hi, More bug reports for you. --Aaron - Version 4A says it's beta version 5 on the main screen of the game - On the introductory window when you begin a new game, why are you capitalizing "Advertising", "Carried Out", "Funds", "Raised", etc? I understand you like to capitalize game concepts, but some of those words would better be lowercase. Would make for a more readable paragraph. No one Likes To read senten

More bugs/issues. - On the candidate details screen, the issues are in an odd order. By variable name perhaps? Drilling in ANWR appears with the A's, for example, although the phrase begins with a D. The order needs to be revisited. - On candidate details, there is a space for Wardell rating. The rating is blank and what the Wardell is is not defined. - On candidate details, there is a space to display what characteristic

I just played a game with the 0.97 beta. You're definitely almost there. All the major stuff is working fine, but there are a number of minor issues that need to be fixed. - When you load the game, the images change too fast. Also, the credits scroll up the screen too fast. - Joe user description: "wide ranging" should be hyphenated. Also, the last sentence is a run-on sentence. Suggest you split into two sentences after the w

Found an amusing bug. On turn 41, if you go to polls it doesn't give you an option to resume game. It only gives you an option to exit to the main menu. Fortunately you can resume the game if you go back to options and click on "resume game", but one shouldn't have to do that. --Aaron

Just played my third game. Was interrupted halfway through when a virus warning window popped up in windows. Since Political Machine can't be resumed, the program ended. I did find a few new bugs for you though... - The chat window doesn't automatically scroll as new information appears. - When you click on West Virginia, the state name doesn't seem to have a space in it. - Randomize issues seems to have no effect.

FYI. My "missing text" issues solved themselves following a reboot of the computer. Not sure why it happened, but it's cleared up now. --Aaron

Hey Frogboy, The new version is much improved. Gone are the graphics problems that the last version experienced. And this version is much more stable. Unfortunately, this version has a "missing text" problem as you'll find listed numerous times below. Bugs: - When building/editing a character, it does not list points remaining. Nor does it list what attributes mean. - Select a character menu does not list

If I may chime in, I run a not-for-profit site that tracks statewide presidential campaign polling data. ---> Link We have nine polls listed for Pennsylvania taken between March 3 and April 25 (meaning they are a little dated). Of the nine, four include Nader, five do not. The deadline for Nader's ballot qualification is not until August 2nd, so it'll be a while before we find out if Nader is o

Played another game. Got 10-15 turns before it crashed. Below is the entire crash file. There is no debug information (even though the last line suggests some should be forthcoming). --Aaron Stardock SmartException Logging Information ------------------------------------------- OS Version : Windows XP Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200 Application Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATIO

I played another two games. Both ended in crashes. Game 1 ended after 16 turns. Crashed to windows for no discernable reason. Game 2 ended after 10(?) turns. The computer player popped up an endorsement. I closed it and a different one popped up. I couldn't close it. The music continued on and on and on for about two minutes, but I couldn't close the window. Nor could I escape back to windows. I eventually had to reboot the co

Played another game. Or at least 18/41 turns of another game. (see below) - Clicking no longer aborts the opening movie (pressing a key still does) - Red ?'s seem to stay for a while. You might want to make them just stay for, oh, say 3 turns or so. In states where both candidates have HQ's they'll both avoid the ?. All that means is that a potentially major state gets ignored. - The consultant seems to be adding 4%, not
