I still think they will deliver tonight. Programmers tend to work unusual hours.

Differentiate! Differentiate! Differentiate! Please!!! Gal Civ was sold on the fact that there were diverse races to choose from that were truly unique. And it delivered. I just assumed Elemental would take this aspect even further. I would like to see definite racial choices that go beyond just affecting stats. It would be awesome for some of the races to have different base units. Eg. An Orc race would have goblin, orc and troll base units before you started to add equipment

No offence taken. :) It takes all sorts to make the world turn. I'm really just pointing out my observations of where many games progressed through modding and that a definitive richness in cultures seems to ultimately be a big winner. All sorts of games end up here. Galactic Civilisations started that way. Mount and Blade Blood Bowl Etc etc etc. My main 'unknown' with the current beta is that there is only currently the Kingdom and Empi

I bought the Civ4 upgrades just to play Fall from Heaven. :) And it is looking like Elemental will be like nothing a mod community has seen. Sounds like it is going to be relatively easy to make a massive impact via the XML yet still have the capacity to make a complete mod as well. I found your latest video on YouTube where you play with modding tools ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edF9levolUc ). [e digicons][/e]

Random vs Premade? Random. Retreat? How about using a battle stance setting before each battle starts. Eg: Berserk - Will not retreat. Attack and speed bonus. Advance - Can retreat after 50% losses. Balanced - Can retreat after 30% losses. Defensive - Can retreat after 20% losses. Defence bonus. Speed penalty. Battle time? Up to 10 m

I like seeing where other similar games ended up AFTER being modded. I guess it shows how games mature and where balance between racial groups and unique racial play-styles tends to end up. Age of Wonders Started off being very LOTRish with elves, orcs, humans, undead, goblins etc. Excellent diversity and racial strengths and weaknesses. Second version introduced a couple of new races that didn't do much for me

It is looking like the 3d aspects may be outside my immediate knowledge base. I use 3DSMax at work but mainly just for building models and for creating still images. I'm very much a peon when it comes to coding behaviours and producing full blown character animations. I'm looking forward to playing with this at some stage but for now the learning curve is looking a little steep for me. No doubt when the game is released there will be detailed tutorials put together by Stardock and the communi

That's really hopeful. :) Building the model is only part of the equation. If it can be boned and given movement commands through the tools then we'll end up with some awesome mods down the track. Would be awesome to have a compendium of creatures that are made by the community. By the way, if you want an excellent tutorial on character building in 3dMax you can't look past this... http://www.3dt

Thanks for the reply. Had a brief look at the Havok website. It would appear that while the modelling import and export is available for Max and Maya, the behaviour and animation packages are proprietary and need to be bought. Not sure how much this would cost as they don't provide details but another link was talking in the range of $50,000. Guess I won't bother exploring this much further.

I know there will be a modders guide coming out soon but I was wondering what the basic plans are for community 3d assets. 1. Where is a good place to learn more about the HKB format? 2. Will packages such as 3D Max be able to import/export the HKB format? 3. Most of the textures at the moment are PNG format. If there are massive armies/tactical battles in future should we be using DDS format for textures? 4. Are boning and basic animations handled within the H

Brad has consistently said that the Beta phase won't be 'fun' but I am also worried that there is too much to do to meet the release date in 6 weeks. I hope I'm wrong. :) Like the others in this thread I want Elemental to have the best launch it can so it doesn't end up trying to catch up after the initial reviews have come in. I want Elemental to continue on and on and on - which means it needs a solid launch. I'm certainly enjoying aspects of the game but support the general comment

A couple of times I've had soldiers instead of heroes end up on the last goodie hut and complete a quest. But they don't retain the item they find. Also, how do you transfer items from character to character. It appears you can drag items around but they don't actually go anywhere else.

I think that if you click on an entry in the tech screen that should bring up the Heirgammon (or whatever it is called) it will cause the computer to freeze if it can't find an entry that means a complete re-boot. Specifically, Research Diplomacy. Click Treaties. Then click the 'Peace Treaty' entry in the description. Also noticed that Embassies are given from two Diplomacy areas.

I had a unit on horseback move into the fog of war and there happened to be an NPC on the same tile which I couldn't see when the horseman started. Instead of flagging an issue and stopping, the unit attacked the NPC which then damaged my relationship with the other 'Men' kingdoms.

I'm not sure if this is the way it is supposed to work but units can only enter transport ships if the unit is inside a city and the transport ship is adjacent to the harbour tile. I was expecting units could be dropped off and picked up from beaches but picking up from a beach doesn't work. This means you must develop the second island with another harbour before you can pick up any unit you drop off there. I've also had a problem in one city where the harbour was facing inland (not

I still get the problem but not as much now as in earlier versions... The shot above is with Advanced Lighting turned on. Note also how dark it makes things. Sometimes I've had the picture clear but the colour darkened. ------------------------------------------------------------- So the answer is supposed to turn off Advanced Lighting. This clears it up in t

These are pretty much old issues. I had already reported them a few Betas ago. I'm sure the game will be fine come release which is why I asked that the stability be given some priority now instead of at the end. I would guess that many of the nVidia graphics card players are experiencing the same issues (seems to be the common denominator from what I've read) and I would think that the feedback is less than it could be because of it.

I'm very excited about the coming launch and have been playing the beta from the start. But each time I try to play, the performance and stability issues make the process too frustrating. So I stop before I really get to test the balance and game-play aspects you are wanting us to look at. Then the next Beta comes out and the hope is that the issues have been fixed. And so on. I don't know if many other testers feel the same but the stability issues seem to have been around for ages.<
