This is a mini-review of the beta. First, the context. I pre-ordered War of Magic back in the day and participated in the beta for Fallen Enchantress. While I played and enjoyed the final product, it never quite gelled into the game I had hoped it would be. I'd give it a solid three stars out of five. There's nothing in the manual or the Hiergamenon on how food works now. I assume it impacts maximum population, I suspect it impacts growth rate, but I don't know for sure either way. I am also unsure of whether or to what degree it is city specific. Various improvements imply that it is largely city specific, but that there are some spillover effects. Two bugs to report. First, auto explore sometimes issues error messages rather than moving the unit. These error messages seem to appear when there are a lot of locations that the unit is trying to avoid (even though I, the player, can move around them) such as goodie huts that are too high level and monsters. I've got two kids of my own, and I couldn't agree more that they help keep one grounded. Nothing puts work into perspective like having a small person grab your finger and smile. No matter how tough the day, you can always go home to your family. It has been a rough patch here with the release. I still think of Elemental as a diamond in the rough, and I like the direction it seems to be going in. Hang in there. It's a marathon at this point, not a sprint.

First thought - I like it a lot. Second thought - kudos to Brad and the team for coming in on Sunday to get a pre-day 0 version out early in response to the street date being broken. I've suggested making it easier to figure out how much gold you have before. The very useful tracking bar at the top of the screen has since been added, allowing you to see your total gold at any time except when you have your Kingdom Report screen open, which grays out the gold total at the top of the screen. 1. When building, add a pop-up screen for each improvement so that you can see what it does. The pop-up currently appears only after you've added the improvement to the building queue, forcing the user to add it to the queue, look at it there, then delete it if they don't want it. 2. We've discussed many methods for trying to persuade players to make only a few cities. Here is yet another. A lot of population growth in Elemental comes from people wandering in from the wastes, not from having babies.
