I can see how painful an experience this is turning out to be for Stardock generally, and Brad in particular. Learning from this is about the only good thing that might come of it. Why are we annoyed that the game was released early? Because some of us were beta testers (that we paid for). The beta test was badly organised, and obviously had extremely limited input into the direction the game was going in. The closest we got to a full product was beta four.&nbs

Fantastic post. There were posts attempting this kind of feedback in the beta, but they weren't nearly as polished as this one (perhaps because, intentionally, we were looking at different aspects of the game in different betas). Shelf space be dammed, I have no idea why Stardock released the game. Regardless of whether you mean the 0.99999 version, the 1.0 version, the 1.05 version or the 1.06 version, it should not have been released. I'll look in here occasionally

Don't be harsh on majikayo, he's tired, wired, spent money on something and wants to play with it. That having been said majikayo, go relax and read a book for an afternoon or two. It's not what you want to hear, but the game could do with a touch of polish. Something that we are all enjoying seeing as it happens......

This is on topic, but meant to be in jest. If you're a GUI designer / user experience bod it will make your eyes bleed. <span style

eobet, I agree with almost everything you say. I'll hold off on my own thoughts until I've seen the first couple of immediate patches but one thing I would say is that anybody who wants to design a 4x game, particularly from an interface perspective (but also AI, faction balance etc), should take a look at Kerberos' Sword of the Stars. I know it's a different genre, but it is the 4x current gold standard (at least in my humble opinion ;-)).

Well, for what it was worth, this quest worked for me last night in v 0.9999x (I got a +2 heavy shield). The first time. I picked up more midnight stones, and other stones of a similar nature, but didn't manage to find a way to use them for anything useful.

I had a similar experience in my game last night. Neutral AI sovreign demands 7 (yes a whole 7!!) gildar from me. I tell him to bog off. He declares war and camps with his sand golem outside my main city, but within my influence zone. The only problem with this strategy being that he had 1hp. EDIT: So this isn't meant to "bash". I am sure that the day zero and "big" patch will improve things.

In my last combat against the spiders guarding the alzor armour (sp?) I missed healing myself four times. I won, which I was quite surprised about (2hp left at the end of the fight), but the armour up and vanished :-(.

Provisos:- I haven't read all the feedback provided here, so may repeat what's already been said. I also haven't finished a game, and my experience of the different factions is fairly limited. That having been said.... Stability 1. As some others experience (and has been reported elsewhere), alt-tabbing still causes a "DX Error: Invalid Call" every single time I try to do it. I've suf
