I think this was a great guide for beginners or people new to the series, good job! That said...this doesn't begin to answer my questions:) My main question is around combat. We haven't really heard much about how combat works in Gal Civ 3, and from snippets of dev conservation its pretty different. Also one possible error: The guide says you place influence starbase

I can't seem to find it on the forums, so I will ask here. I purchased E:WOM on September 17, 2009, and I have a receipt, but I did not receive an e-mail with information to get the last expansion. Is there anything I can do to get that, or am I out of luck and just need to buy it? EDIT: Nevermind, while updating my profile I noticed a link to the games I purchased. In that link, I had a copy of the game, and I just registered that with Steam
I believe this may actually refer to the initiative bonus, which is greater than what horses get (or, it used to be, anyways - I'm not certain this is still true).
You are right. Wargs give an initiative bonus, but horses do not. That is why I always have my archers on Wargs, while my cavalry is always on horses (to take advantage of the weight and tactical movement bonuses).
I did find out those bonuses do not stack, which was unfortunate as I wasted a trophy trying to stack the growth bonuses.

I never did watch Baywatch or Jerry Springer since they were really dumb. A bunch of people acting stupidly. I just see that mass media still pushes women as the superior sex in quite a few shows, even if it does objectify them in others. Although most AAA games I have played latel
This game is very much worth buying. Lots of niggling issues, but overall this is still the funnest gane I have played in quite some time. I bought probably 20 games in the last few months, but I cant stop from coming back to this one. Cant say that about War of Magic, since I never finished a single game there since it was pretty much boring beyond building cities and specialized troops. Beyond The Walking Dead, this is probably my favorite game this year, just ahead of XCOM.
I would like a trait where you gain no HP each level, but instead gain one Attack each level, combined with not being able to equip anything. It would make a glass canon unit that gets more powerful as it levels, but remains easy to kill.
Since average gamer is much younger then average software buyer this is almost "normal". Well not normal but expected with how women are shown in western society. Young men are taught to sexsualize women everyday through mass media. And it is only going to get worse. Women are shown as pretty brainless people. There are many good documentaries about this.
I dont know about you, but every show I ever watched as a
The drakes also do this. This bug has been around since War of Magic. The part that sucks about it is that I avoid using this usefull ability to avoid the long wait.
I remember Brad posting that you would need to uninstall the beta and install the game from scratch when the game was released. This includes deleting the FE directory.
This looks awesome. Thanks for making it.
Both mechanics work well as is. I do wish that the roads were documented better though, as it isn't obvious why you suddenly have roads in your kingdom when they pop up.
I find the con being that you can no longer expand your Zone of Control by placing buildings toward a resource. You can no longer create a straight line city, which some may want. (I cant imagine why such a city style would be considered bad.) To be honest, I dont see any pros. I see only cons.
Dragon or Drakes sweeping always produces this problem. This has been true since EWOM.
I cant get FE to show up in SDC period. The only thing there is the original Elemental. I had about a dozen games on the old SDC that aren't showing up either.
My problem with this suggestion is simply that it is fixing a problem that doesn't seem like a problem to me. The ability to place buildings manually is turned off by default. If you don't like placing buildings manually, then why did you turn it on in the first place? I just don't get the problem. The old Civilization method of no border adjustment sucks. I hated it then, and I hate it now. The current method gives me options if I choose to use them. It also allows for no snaking
the solution is simply to not make the city a flat line if you dont like that kind of city. I dont know about you, but my city is not nearly square and more pragmatic designs are more realistic than pretty designs for cities anyway.
I always liked the gameplay element of allowing the ZoC to expand with the physical building of the city. It is a unique element to Elemental, and it allowed new strategies for building cities. Removing depth from the game frustrates me, and I can't understand why so many want to simplify the gameplay mechanics.
I never understood why snaking was hated in the first place. I liked building my cities strategically to allow access to new resources. Does such a thing really make people mad, or make the game unfun to some people? I don't get it, and I never did. I stopped playing the beta because Brad threatened to remove the city customization anfter the second beta. We have been arguing about this for over a year now, but the vitriol against city snaking has never made any sense to me.
Is it at all like Primal Rage? That game was awesome!
I usually make it a town to take advantage of the economic treaty bonuses.
the road also sends caravans that increase the gildar production in your capital by 10%. They also level up after multiple trips, but you rarely see that since it takes so long (higher levels produce higher percentage increases in Gildar at the capital.)
Quoting Martimus, reply 32I like the idea of having to bring down the beasts HP to under 10 or so before you can tame it. That mechanic works relatively well in XCOM. That would make low level beasts easy to tame, but force much more effort to tame higher level beasts. This comes to be an interesting option too. Thinking about it, I would change the threshold to mmm...25 HP? This way, low beasts are tamed without need of
As I'm still learning the game, I'm re-loading a lot. I think it will take a good couple of playthroughs before I get a good handle on relative power levels. I'd like to see an Ironman mode added to the game. Knowing you can't go back an undo your daft mistakes is different from choosing not to go back. It gives games a similar edge to boardgames/multiplayer.
I agree. Playing XCOM in Iro
In GalCiv2 I played Ironman in every game. I haven't played ironman in FE yet though. I just am not very good at it yet (well I wasnt very good at it, but I seem to be getting better pretty quickly.) Actually, now that you mention it, I think I will start playing Ironman from now on. I already do once I get my place settled, but I understand the game well enough now that I should play ironman from the beginning.
