No, never lost my first city. I only noticed this after capturing a couple of Magnar's cities and razing them. I can't pinpoint exactly when it started though.
I think this is the trigger. If you conquer and raze an enemy city with these buildings in them, it clears the flag and lets you build another.

Congrats Ma'am! I've enjoyed your games. Being a parent isn't always fun. It doesn't always feel rewarding. Sometimes you wish alcohol was free. It is though one of the most important 'jobs' that need to be done. Good luck with you and yours.

All i see now are shadows of the horses but no horses themselves. Have you tried validating your game cache? I've gotten in the habit of doing so after any new download.
I do think it was an error that that dragon was only 7th level. That will be straightened up in the next patch so it looks like this will be fixed (or at least better).
Derek - can you please talk a little bit about multiple Heroes in a group and experience? I'm having to leave most of my heroes sitting drinking in town at the moment. In FE, there was a definite penalty, but it wasn't bad enough tha
Whether it's the old system or the new one, I'm hoping that farming monsters for XP isn't an intentional design. What I mean is that SD intentionally wants players to leave monster huts around just to keep them around for leveling purposes. It seems like once you clear out monsters but don't capture their lair, they shouldn't regenerate more. I'm also unsure why monsters keep growing past 1 size of group. I'm
I know that the autobuilt maps are quirky as heck, but I don't mind them. I like the idea of the engineer unit doing upgrades or for building short roads. Upkeep for those roads though sounds like a nightmare. It isn't as if we can build lots of cities any more.
The 5 movement would work. The biggest problem I have with the critter heroes in general is that they can not be mounted on horses or wargs and so they can't keep up or they slow the entire stack up.
@ Wizard1200 - I like the general concept, but damage needs to scale per level and not be so tied to shards. Doing 6 points of damage against anything unless you find shards is nasty. It isn't as if we can train the mage in schools after the start of the game. The way that the game is currently working, it makes sense to tie new spells
Has the issue with Enemies Razing cities been addressed? The whole Razing mechanic needs to be rethought.
Now that we can raise when we capture, I have no problem with it as is. I do though wish you weren't essentially forced to raze, because of the raising unrest penalty.

So now not only do most of my Heroes need to sit cooling there heels at home, but now I can't grow my empire? Come on guys what the heck kind of game are you very busy creating? Let me tech my way out of empire unrest, at the very least, or give me an option to turn it off. It blows chunks that I can't grow and that if I start conquering, I need to raze everything. That seems to make things rather pointless. Let me run my heroes together.
Bah this outposts costing 30 pop business is driving me wild. I'm resorting to making my starting city a town on 5 food which solely becomes my pioneer production city. Any cities built after this are actually the rest of my empire. It doesn't feel right being forced to follow same build strategy every new game
I just pace myself depending on what happens. I wait till I'm at level 2 before pop
Buildings already cost a resource. It is called production. Every turn spend on building, you are not training troops. Most buildings provide relatively small bonuses by themselves, so I do not really see a problem here. Like in all similar games, it's a choice between building up your army or your economy.
+! If I want to build every building in every city, it's <strong
Maul is dangerous, it is a good thing. It used to be that there was a reduction in accuracy for each next attack. I am not sure if that is still there or not, just make sure it isn't bugged and it is good to go. The heightened anxiety when facing a Mauler is cool. Having the option to take advantage of it as a build is also cool, though not one I have tried.
They have heightened resistance levels against Beast Master somewhere a long the way, so it isn't as easy to use as it once was. Wealth runs out fairly quickly. Leave them alone please.
As an aside, I loved the idea of the cat as a quest reward, but the cat loses all effectiveness once you get horses. She also has the same lack of leveling effectiveness as the other heroes, and since she has no weapons to upgrade damage.
I actually would not mind if I was allowed to instant raze. But yea, if I can't then the AI shouldn't be allowed to either. I actually haven't noticed it doing it recently. Monsters yes, but not the AI.
I've been playing for a while, but I love when you put the reasons of the 'why'. Awesome learning tool and learning lots. Bacco is one of my least favorite starting heroes, unless my starting sovereign doesn't have earth for enchanted hammers. One of the things that has resulted with the influx of new items is that it has actually gotten tougher to equip a starting hero, imo. Of course, switching to warfare tech will fix this in a way, but ... </p

Well, considering that I don't want them (monsters) dodging my 'special' melee attacks, I'll learn how to live, or let my fodder die, to theirs. Yep, I use purpose built spear troops in my 'mid' game for doing most of my lair clearing, but I was trying to use a stack of leveled (9-12) champs in my last two games, and come to think, most of them were assassins, so low HP, minimal armor, high dodge, great for most things, but essentially meat for t
Thanks much for the guide. Any tips for dealing with Ophidians? I cringe every time I see a stack.
My starting order currently is: Hire First Champ Buy 2 salted pork Trade 1 Build Merchant (Market?) in first settle. Start researching Civ techs Go Adventure with both together. Pretty much everything else depends on what I find or don't. If I can't find an additional settle by the time the first 'grows', it becomes a Fortress, if not it is a Town. @ Tuidjy - LOL! I'm not doing it 'wrong', it just isn't the specialized way I play. It is still time consuming though because you have to go on the quests and do the research. It isn't as if you rush out and are able to get the AI city 'influenced' by turn 20. Though an easy fix is just to increase the amount of required influence by difficulty leve
A military conquered city should lose half to three quarters of all built improvements, regardless of who conquers it. Spells that allow you to take the city using influence should not be affected by this, since they aren't really able to be captured that way until mid to late game, or at least I have never had the influence to do it until then.
Never mind, should have read all the way through.
