Most races have special abilitities that disappear if you change abilities. This needs to be fixed.

There is no list of the changes in 1.0X.010 (just released) from 1.0X.009. One thing I noticed (and do not like) is that it is no longer possible to make changes to an existing design; you have to make the new design from bare components. The line editor (used for such thing as entering a ship class name) still needs to be redone, as the existing one is EXTREMELT awkward to use. The special abilities of each races are STILL not properly editable.
Version 1.0X.010, released late today (March 6), has removed the ability to edit an existing ship design. When you update a design, the new designe must start from scratch.
It should be impossible to ever have (or obtain) a technology without all its prerequisites. A few races star with such technology.
Each race starts with different technologies and abilities. However there are problems if you customize your starting race. 1) NONE of the races starts with 0 available ability points. 2) If you customize the abilities of you starting race, SOME but not all special abilities are lost. 3) Some of the racial abilities (e.g. Minimization, different logistics) cannot be duplicated in a custom race. 4) Some races start with certain technologie
It should be impossible to attain a technology witholut previously or simultaneously attaining all prerequisite technologies. Attaining a technology without a prereqisite can happen in 2 ways. 1) It is impossible to trade for a technology, which you cannot research. 2) Some races start with technologies, but are missing prerequisites. Bote that this is impossible for a custom race.
It should be impossible to attain any technology without previously or simultaneously attaining its poredecessors. Currenlty it is possible to trade for a technology that cannot yet be researched. Additionally 2 races start with Ion drive woithout all lower types.
The shipyard screen does not allow updating the built-in designs. Furthermore, these supplied designs are strictly inferior and more expensive than the nerarest possible user designs.
The shipyard screen does not allow upgrading the starter ship types. This hould be allowed, with the requiremnt that the name of the ship type be changed (to avoid comficts when another game is satrted). The originally available ship types are NOT comparible with anything you can design. Any attempt to design a similar ship produces a design that if BOTH strictly better and less costly than the corresponding supplied type.
The possible starting races are not "equal" in terms of overall level of ability. By default, each race should have ZERO availa ability points/ There should be an option to set your race to game defaults
Races do not start out "equal". The defaults for each race should be equally strong, and with ZERO available ability points. There should be a button to reset racial characteristics to the game starting defaults. If you go to the BUILD SHIP screen froma planet screen, select a ship type and select the BACK TO PLANET button, the selection is lost. <img src="http://images3.stardock.com/wc/icons
If you select "Build Ship" from a planet window, select a ship type to build, select the "Back to Planet" button, the build order is lost.
If there is a window open, the escape key still goes to the options screen instead of closing the window.
It is very awkward to enter the Name of a newly designed ship class. To enter a name, you must click at the begining of "NEW DESIGN". use the right arrow key to move to the end, and backspace to erase it before entering the new name.
The pre-designed ships are strictly worse and more expensive that corresponding user designed ships (with the same technology requirements). They do not correspond exactly with anytjhing that can be user designed.
Startdock central does not yet allow posting in Galactiv Civilization II area. The pre-desaigned ships do not correspond to any ships that can be designed by the user. The nearest user designed sjips at the beginning of the game are both strictly better in quality and less costly. It is very awkward to enter the Name of a newly designed ship class. To enter a name, you must click at the begining of "NEW DESIGN". use the right arr
I have spoken to MacAfee about the problem. For some inscrutable reason, MacAfee VirusScan is unable to allow specific legitimate programs to run scripts, while blocking scripts from other programs.
Galcive 2 would not install properly until I uninstalled the beta version, and eleted the contents of its directory.
GalCiv 2 always crashes when I attempt to start a new game, after playing another game in the same session. Starting anew game immediately after starting GalCive 2 works properly.
When I ran Stardock central, it reported that there was a new version. I selected the option to install the new version. The files were downloaded, Stardock central reported that it had installed the new version and said it had to restart to run the new version. I selected the option to do so ... AND I got back to the beginning, with a report that there was a new version. This repeated several times.
Whenever I start Galsvi II, MacAfee Virusscan complains that the launcher is trying to execute a suspiciious script. I have complained to MacAfee, and received the information that there is currently no way to flag a single program as legitimate for this check. Could SDtardock work with MacAfee to fix this incompatibility? BTW Galcive 2 works properly after I OK it to VirusScan, but I have to do it every time it starts.
