Not sure whose issue it is... [e digicons]:'([/e] Ticket is with Stardock.
My game is not loading in Steam after the last update/DLC. I run Windows 10 and the game was great. When I verify files in Steam it says 7 files need to be reacquired but evidently they are not. Does anyone know how this process works? Maybe I have a Steam issue not a Stardock one. Thanks! Go Colts!
Look under All Apps and scroll down to Steam (a folder). You should see GaL Civ 3 display with its own icon. You should be able to drag the icon over and pin it to the Start panel or anywhere else you want. The game ran beautifully prior to the last update but now it pukes on the splash screen. Sent in a ticket but not response with a solution. Sad - uber machine that can't run the game and I hope someone
Not really. Filed a ticket with a data dump to Stardock. The game has updated to my Asus ROC Win 10 laptop and works perfectly. [e digicons]O:)[/e]
Same thing and I believe there are other Win 10 folks that have issues loading the game as well. Mine pukes on the opening screen and it used to to run beautifully before the upgrade. Ran the verify cache deal which said it found seven files not right buy I am not sure it fixed them so I reinstalled and still the same problem. I don't mind doing a few things to make a game run but we are talking major dollars spent here plus my machine which Ashes says is Uber.
The pace of the game is great for me. Being a little older, I don't necessarily want to get in a click fest to acomplish what I'd like to do. And if you get absorbed in a battle, you will find that things (either pleasantly or unpleasantly) have moved along somewhat. This game does have depth and all of it is not strategy but sometimes in graphics and game mechanics. As far as the orignal poster - if you didn't care about what someone said about yo
Mine is called Amber after Zelazny's novels Nine Princes of Amber series.....
Lock teams, no pirates, upgrade infrastructure (check credits window to find red negatives), more fleet than research at first then research to build fleet, research economic techs - and have fun! :)

Pausing the game when you are new is a lifesaver... I used it a lot my first 3-4 games...
I've got a QC6600 with a 8800GTS w/320m with 4 Gigs of Ram and my setup runs great. On my last game of Sins, I pushed the RAM use past 2 gigs so get all the RAM you can afford. :) I vote Nvidia by the way - GPU plus mb processor. Also Win XP...
Vogar for the win... :) Waypoints are handy and I've just figured out some of this stuff myself.
I recently had my most powerful Jagged Knife event. It was near the end of the game, and I was just in the points-building phase. So I had killed all the AIs except one, who was down to one planet. I had 505 planets and the Jagged Knife event happened, stealing 165 of my planets! I had no desire to play 4 more hours on a game that for all purposes had already been won for a while, so I reloaded an auto-save. Sentient species taste better...
And I thought the nine pla
You could set Rally points on what you wish to upgrade with constructors and set one star base producing for each "point" you wish upgraded. Have to manually cut it off yourself though.
I have discovered that all computer cases and motherboards are not created equal... :) If I get another one it will be bare bones (MB in case). So I guess I vote custom. I've had Dell and they are good if you don't want to tweak much (at least they used to be).. I am using XP on my latest setup (Nvidia i680, CQ6600). I have Vista and I've got a partition ready for it....
What he says. Virtual Memory is a windows setting which I usually set to be 1.0 to 1.5 times that of RAM. Lower number = upper It was a nice discourse of video cards though dudes... :)
You should play to build viable fleets not to expand your planets. True enough your will expand your planets in time but it becomes a mindset. This consists of plotting to get your favored warships to accomplish what you want. When first starting out, it doesn't take as much infrastructure to take that asteroid but the volcanic planets with 2-3 Kodiaks is a different matter. The progression would be just enough civil labs to expand resource gathering, culture, intel t

It's a shame that you can't go to the site by typing it's location Must I delete the game and then reintall it to get it to go to the free bonus Theme site?
Congrats on staying young my friend! Good for you!
Only one other thing - why does everyone discount stealth so readily? If you use today's thinking as a basis I see it but no one 60 years ago would of though you could reduce the RCS and heat signatures the way it is being done today. Stealth could be as easy as blocking a sensor...or as in today's world feeding back the wrong information saying nothing is there.
^^^ A few paragraphs are your friend. :) Listening to the good old Science cable channel, I heard a scientist make an interesting statement (to paraphrase): "The problem with a lot of our scientific community is that they assume they know all there is to know about physics on our earth. I am willing to assume there are principles in physcis that we haven't discovered yet and those may make the rest of what we know obsolete.." The element of surprise will
A Planet Logistic upgrade is necessary - green button opening screen. You can overfill your slots as they are limited but I doubt that was your case with only three planets. Conquering larger planets will give you more slots to play with. Original Poster - congrats on getting into the fray man. I used pause a lot when I first started and actually searched these forums for specific answers at times (how to capture a capturable asteriod eg.) Take your time and enjoy th
When I first started (not all that long ago :) ) I paused the game A LOT! So much to learn it seemed and there was. Locked teams, no pirates... Congrats on the win!
Lots of nice changes and that is exciting. Congrats SD and Ironclad dudes. Carriers now appear to have a larger usefulness. I like Impulse and I am actually using it as a launch platform. Upgrade have always been through the Internet so if you don't have the Interent you've always had problems upgrading?? A lot of people just like to complain me thinks...
I like the idea of ships "advancing" to like maybe a Rookie, Seasoned, Veteran Status with corresponding upgrades to their performance. Maybe SOASE can incorporate like some planet upgrade areas that could be called, for lack of something better, TBD. Could be used for Tactical or Logistics. In this way you coud customize a planet to be more one or the other rather than all one or the other. An all logistical planet would not be the problem whereas an All-Tactical one would. Talk ab
