Well, I bought it . . . although I'd buy almost anything made by Stardock - and have. But as far as DLC goes, it's not particularly exciting. Will there be more DLC? Will it be better? I'd love to see something that adds more spells, or something that makes the combat at least as good as MoM (and maybe even AoW, because it's one of the weak points), or adds in Titans, or my personal favorite, the Item Forge. Let's just put it this wa

I know that it seems a little harsh to call for scrapping the Unit, Equip, and City screens, and starting from scratch. I'm not making this argument lightly. I've seen these screens in their evolution from the early days of the WoM beta, and they are roughly the same screens, with most of the problems and very little improvement. In fact, the Equip screen is actually much more inpenetrable than it used to be. I think it's easy for the dev
Well, part of beta feedback is giving them honest appraisals of what works and what doesn't from a user perspective. If I'm coming across a little strong, well, I wasn't as straightforward as I should have been on WoM, figuring that they saw what I saw, and that turned out not to be the case. Lots of things have changed, and Stardock is doing much better this time around - but what I feel I owe them is to speak plainly. If that's bossy, and I suppose to some extent it is
For the first time since I got sick and tired of WoM, I've sat down and spent hours on FE. Beta 3 is an incredible improvement, and the game is already fun - much more fun than WoM ever was. But don't stop here; there are a lot of things that need improvement. Here are some of my quick impressions: 1. Load times take forever. 2. The magical item selection is nonsensical. I said it in the WoM beta, and I'll say it here - and <span
Yeah, I can't either - and the arrow keys move the highlighted unit. What does work is to click on the main map and then move your mouse while holding down the button. I think it is a design choice, not a bug; but there really is no reason why moving the mouse off screen shouldn't move the map. Very hard to get used to; detracts from the fun.
Extra credit: No, the memory issues are not fixed. At all. I play about five turns and it is crawling.
At release: Elemental: D. So much hope . . . but it just wasn't fun. Civ 5: C. Much more stable, but it played like they wanted to bring back the puck mouse. Starcraft 2: A. Wow, was that game stable, polished, and balanced. Fallout NV: A. I never ran into any of the other bugs, and it was an incredible RPG experience. End of 2010: Elemental: C. Stardock's committment starting to show off, but s
So later on, I have found all of the resources from the diplomacy techs. They are all indeed within about a 15 square distance from my capital city - and in every case, in somebody else's territory. Which sucks, and while I'm quite capable of invading and getting them, the whole point of these techs IMO is if I need the assistance of these units to defend myself or attack someone else. Having to attack someone else rather blunts the point of that. And out o
So the Adventure tree has a number of techs that make resources appear. Well, after the first one, no resources appeared in my territory. Same deal with the diplomacy techs. The first diplomacy resource appeared in a neighboring area. That was it. None of the unclaimed areas seemed to have resources appear. It used to be that a good number of them would appear in my area, and all of the diplomacy resources, but that is no longer happening. So
Looks like a new game - I am excited. But: Imbue Champion now immediately available, takes 1 mana per turn Does this mean that you can unimbue a champion and free up the mana? That's a little odd . . .
I'd like to be able to mod the AI's behavior.
Going after unsatisfied customers on the forums and bashing them is not going to get you a better game.
Hey dude, you replied to my post. You are right, of course, that you are perfectly free to complain about the refund policy. I'm also pretty certain that there are threads dedicated to the topic of the refund problems. Like here. I don't
Then bring it up with Stardock customer service. I'm not going to bother defending Stardock's return policies; whether they have some hoops or not is really none of my concern. I can understand why some people want to get a refund. That's fine, go for it, get it, complain to their customer service or PM Brad (preferably without the death wishes) if you don't like whatever hoops that may or may not exist - and move on. As far as I'm concerned, the people who h
That he puts his money where his mouth is. As you may have noticed, many unsatisfied customers have experienced problems getting a full refund for the defective product they have bought. Give everyone that wants it a 100% to show that the apologies are sincere and not just damage control. Admitting mistakes is not worth anything if you are not willing to pay the price for those mistakes. "Gee. sorry I sold you an unfinished and defective product. What? No, offcourse you cant
Perhaps it is time to lay off Brad and Stardock a little. He's come out, admitted his mistakes (or at least a good number of them) and vowed to spend a lot to make it better. What more could you ask for? As an early beta tester, I'll tell you right now that I don't regret my purchase and I don't want my money back. I've spent as much money or more on much crappier games without any promise of getting them fixed. Empire: Total War? Loved most o
Awesome in every way. I'm looking forward to the changes.
Works for me. Although I didn't expect anything less.
In regards to the random distribution of shards, that is why I would (and sorry if I was unclear) totally remove spellbook selection from character creation. You get Common, and Death if you are Empire, Life if you are Kingdom, and that's it. Past that, your researchable spells completely depend on what shards you get. No fire shards in the game? No fire spells. But I would amend the random map creation to make sure that there is at least one shard by each starti
On the plus side, it didn't crash for 1 hour, 50 minutes of playing time, including multiple save game loads.
Introduction Given the nature of Elemental: War of Magic, a player should expect that magic makes up an integral part of the game. Your character has his divine right to rule, so to speak, based upon the fact that he is a channeler – an incredibly rare trait which grants him the ability to cast spells. The historical background features a magical cataclysm, and emphasizes that all of the magic in
Stardock is really good about continually refining their games. For example, on Gal Civ 2 & expansions prior to the 2.0 version, I was up to Painful and whoopin' tail. Then 2.0 came out and I was back down to Challenging. I expect that in time, they'll have all of the many many kinks worked out.
That seemed to do it - thanks!
Reoccurence of crashes has been cut by half. 1.06 is much more stable - especially in the tactical battles.
This has happened since the beginning, but before 1.06 I was able to use the scroll wheel on my mouse to zoom in and out quickly and the cloth map would come back. This no longer happens; the only solution is to reload the game - which presents its own problems.
Unfortunately, I am still getting CTDs with saves that I made with 1.06. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9163928/Elemental1_06-2010-08-27T21-10-36-534.zip
