I tried different sovereigns all created under 1.07, all had the same behavior. I created a new sovereign under 1.08, and everything worked. So the bug seems to be the patch creating issues moving over from the older code to the new in regards to sovereigns.
Hmmm.... I thought that might be the case, so started a new game under 1.08b (w/ hotfix) with Relias. Same issues. I wonder what would happen if I played with a custom sov created under 1.08b...

Weird. Some of us are having the opposite problem. My problem is that magic never hits. Something weird is going on in tactical battles.
Just tried it with a new game re-set on 1.08b. No spells are hitting. Then, restarted again, this time without a custom soverign. Still no luck hitting with spells. Includes Flame Dart, Lightning Strike, and Fireball. Medium world. All normal difficulty. I'd be curious to hear more from those of you who are having success with combat spells: which are you hitting with? I rely pretty heavily on combat spells in the early game to keep an edge
Same problem. Fireballs missing repeatedly. Haven't hit with one yet. This is a game that started with 1.08. However, I think I patched to 1.08b after I started it - but not sure about that.
In my latest game, I drew two scenic vistas near my start area, and ZERO (0) shards. I'm in the mid-to-late game and still don't have any shards. This made a diplomatic victory seem fairly obvious. I've managed to create alliances with 4 out of 5 of my opponents, but Kraxis has such a high power rating that he isn't quite as awed by my diplomatic agility. So... my choices are to either build up a lot of capital and then "buy" the alliance or to build up my military so that Kraxis beco
I was going for a Spell of Making victory in a game this weekend, and I found that - when I reached the end game, I had a large number of cities, all with Arcane labs (probably covered half the map), but the last couple of spell levels were still requiring a massive number of turns to complete (50+ in both cases). I had, maybe, one Arcane Temple that I had found on the map and I built the Abby, though not in the most optimal city, I later discovered. No heroes that helped with Arcane
Two features I'd like to see: 1. When hiring heroes, I'd like something to show how much gold is currently available. 2. Unit cycling just doesn't seem to be working to my liking. I think I'm really wanting something that is Civ-like. Units should pursue pre-automated paths at the START of the turn, then cycle through units with nothing to do. Just my 2c about the interface I'd prefer.
Had the same problem with 806. Confirmed that running Elemental.exe as admin resolves the issue.
Update: based on suggestions in the forum, I uninstalled and reinstalled Impulse. This resolved the issue.
Running a Win 7 desktop system - connected to the internet. Tried turning off Microsoft Security Essentials and creating Windows firewall exceptions. Neither helped. This problem did not occur on the same system in the prior Beta versions.
