Unfortunately, the link to how to enable the Demon Assassin in single player is no longer accessible; either that or the entire thread vaporized from the sheer weight of people staring at it intensely. I'm betting the former.
Perhaps some Trust Metrics can be used to implement a Karma system This metrics, used in Google-rank or in Advogato, try to issue exploits and attacks. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trust_metric Thank you, Elnopintan, for stealing the thoughts right out of my mind! Man, if you try to avoid nudity in your home, I despair of sitting near you on a bus or a restraunt. The stench alone might cause a yak to disgorge its multiple stomachs' contents all over my lovely choice of clothing. Then I might need to become naked! Seriously though, the QoT wears more covering (vines) than the front of every news-stand women's magazine cover in the market. If that's too racy for you, might I suggest a lovely bunker in the mountains where your wife doesn't get any
That said, I just finished a Pantheon 2v2 Slaughter game, with my Queen of Thorns and a Lord Erebus versus ... Two Oaks. Yeah, we lost that one, horribly. There was simply no way we could have even thought about winning it. Other than that, I'm pretty impressed with the 0-day balance versus the Betas. I'm hoping I don't feel quite so raped next time I venture out there ...
Usually I'm using Audiograbber or other FreeDB things to manage my audio, so I appreciate the pointer. I'll have to get it populated over into MusicBrainz.
Awkward fact of the moment: I can't find an actual track listing for the Demigod soundtrack CD. Which is awkward given I want to have things neat and tidy in my storage. Am I just overlooking something in the plethora of files and papers in my box?
Actually, I like the "minimum safe distance from Demigods" idea. It certainly makes in-game sense that Demigods would be inherently protected from the obvious. Fine-tuning what that distance should be might be fiddly, but certainly within reason.
I had a similiar situations. When battles got larger, the sound would begin to crackle and the game would lag. But I turned off reverb and it seemed to help. I've done more testing tonight and my strongest guess is that the sound code has a slowish leak. I say this because things started out very, very smoothly. It was only as things wore on that the crackle became more and more pronounced, until things finally lagged to a frame every couple se
I've actually noticed a situation on my box where performance is bad and I believe the cause goes to the AUDIO system, of all things. I'm running a CD X-Fi Gamer, which I know some folks have said untoward things about, but I don't see this behaviour with anything else, so ... Turning down Audio Fidelity appears to reduce but not remove the glitching. Audio stuttering, frame rate drops during layered sounds, etc. My guess is there's some kind of interaction going on there.
Frankly, the micromanagement side of mines is the part that annoys the heck out of me. If you don't put your Hangars (as Advent) in the advancement lane from the jump path, your mines end up clumping around the planet far from where you need them. And that's just annoying. A better option for most mine deployment systems would be to borrow the previously suggested "fields" idea and place them just as you would an orbital facility. Click the planter, click the "place mines," click the
I mean, seriously, when Starcraft 2 comes out, who's going to want to play Sins??
I will, for one, if only because I prefer RTS where you don't have to be a hyperactive 12 year old hopped up on Ritalin and intraveinous meth to play competitively in the bottom rungs of a ladder. I tend to prefer games where micro-managing my thirty-hundred different Terran Marines to get an additional 0.005% dps out at 400 interactions-per-second
You have a week. At the end of this week, you need to be able to juggle bowling pins with your testicles. You spend seven days working on your technique. The pins go under, around, and behind your thighs! You can do forward and reverse cascades! You spin one of the pins around your shaft and pop it up over your head in stacatto rhythm that echoes the beat of "Baby Got Back" while the pins whirl and dance! At the end of the show, seven pins are standing balanced percariously on
You can also use Xfire's video recorder mode, which works decently enough. It does have the drawback of only encoding in Xfire codec, but you can convert or just link to the site.
Honestly, I don't see any need for Generals to have direct control over rank-and-file zerglings, anyway. It's always been at least suggested that Generals would have their own Praetorian Guard, as it were, who would follow their lead and the General's overall focus would be on buffing and close direction. In fact, I can't think of a single pre-release bit of press that ever suggested otherwise, now that I flip back through my mental reference desk. This is good, for the record. Just b
If they were they would be a legit threat and also make you feel like you were part of something even bigger. Just my opinion.
Larger zergs won't do much to make you feel like you're something bigger, but more certainly would! Same damage output as a larger individual unit, same overall damage points, but more bodies, putting out a significant army force both for and against you. That's the game I came to play.
Definitely saw this on the Mine map with a Torchbearer today. On the up-side, it made me definitely want a way to do such a thing deliberately from the game configuration setup, because with ultra-high frame rats and relatively low sim speed, I could really get in and enjoy the artistry and beauty of the art in the game. The animations, even on the mass of zergs, are absolutely fascinating to watch. Next release, I'd love to have game speed and portal output rate sett
Actually, I rather like the soul-harvesting idea. It certainly fits with the theme overall a lot more than wagers (none of which would actually flow to you on the battlefield, pointedly, since the bets would be between the Gods elsewhere watching). The harvest of a perfectly reasonable local resource doesn't actually fit with gold. Pointedly, most of the maps appear to be occuring on constructed arenas, anyway. Why'd there be gold to mine in there? And who's working in them?
Photobucket , Picasa , Flickr (my personal preference), almost anything is better than Rapidshare for such things. And all of them have free usage account access.
Also, note it might be a good idea to repost this as a Sticky to the beta feedback forum to try and cut back on some of the duplicate reporting.
Rather than "nerf" the rook, why not make the others more powerful?
For the record, Frogboy, that's always been my question. My gut suggests it's because if someone else is having more fun than me, clearly they need to be stopped with extreme prejudice, right? Just giving me more fun to have doesn't punish him for his arrogance. Or something like that, which I'd say if I were a complete phallus .
I hope so too. I don't have the reflexes for the other.
I think I'm going to add a new bullet point: Demigod is not DotA . Chess has no micro. Not that Chess with micro hasn't been done, but Archon never was as compeditive as Chess is, even without the several hundred years of devoted analysis applied to it. (Serio

Interestingly, I've noticed it doesn't happen so noticably at the beginning of the game but gradually worsens as play goes on and zergs get bigger. Could be a graphic resource leak or just some ugly interaction between the map rendering and the semi-transparency on the frame.
