I played 2 games this weekend spent about 4 hours, have played the other Betas off an on. The game is shaping up nicely, I really enjoyed my game even though I was crushed in the first one. The city concept or upgrades and automatic placement is much better and no crazy looking cities. I really like that you cant build everywhere so the places where you can build cities gets more strategic value, and adding outposts as a way to get resources works very good. The limits to

If you have all reasources but no material the background on the top resource indicator is to short.
When a tactical battle ends, the experience gained is split on the units that is suppose to get the experience this changed in a patch. But after the battle all units till get the full experience.
I can confirm this, happend on and off in my games.
Agreed, seems like we have a trend, oldies like me really like it. :) Maybe its because we have more patience with issues and dont ruin our experience by exploiting bugs or AI bahaviour.
Civ Accomplished a balance with the aggresive AI flag which you had to check to really activate the war unit production of the AI. It was a smart way to do it, create an option of aggresive AI that will reduce AI unit production for the people that play more for leisure.
Listen to the bug reports, ignore the rants.. :) Keep up the good work.
Great write up, my thoughts exactly. I admire the patience a developer has today dealing with all the quick to judge customers and the fact that most of them have the same expectations on a super deep strategy game as a shallow game like modern warfare. With great scope and potential comes a lot of risk. One of the things I hate about other big game companies is the fact that they dont take any risks and limit scope to the bare minimum, and even with that approach they
Thank you!
As somebody who works with computer software, I myself have sometimes been on the edge to come down on the end customer, if I worked as crazily hard as you guys do to support the community its not strange that sometimes stress gets to you. Stardock is an excellent example of a great game company and you will always be supported by your fans, beacuse you respect your fans. Elemental is an excellent game, I sat this morning for 1.5 hour with my 3 year old daughter and
Same here, stayed up way to long. This game is the first game in a long long time where I feel the game mechanics are just right. It might be rough around the edges on the UI, but once you get a hang of it the UI is not all bad. A few patches and this should go from good to great in no time. The game is fun to play at the its current state and thats before the 0 day patch. An old Civ and MoM fan.
