You can't.

No there isn't and it might be added in an expansion if enough people want it and Stardock feels like it (even though I hope they rather put in some other nice features. ). Also check the numerous other threads on this topic for details.
Uhm.... what? Core designs can't be modified, true, but what stops you from making your own designs using large hulls? I don't think I understand what your problem is here.
I don't know about planets and colony ships but I *do* know that my ship on auto-survey always goes for anomalies in unexplored parts of the map. Just start and set your flag ship to auto-survey and it'll start racing around the galaxy without you ever scouting anything.
Brad stated that the espionage system was something he isn't happy with, so chances are good it will get a major overhaul in an expansion.
Ships in a fleet can't be traded (neither by you nor by the AI)
The AI destroys buildings when it sees that you will conquer a planet (scorched earth tactic). Don't know if it actually does it on the normal difficulty level, but definitely on the higher ones. Also, depending on your invasion tactics, buildings are destroyed during combat.
Apart from the realism, I also think it's too fast with regards to gameplay. Pop growth should be dependent on pop size, otherwise, like mentioned above, new colonies go from nothing to full within a very short time, also making and pop growth bonus techs or buildings unnecessary. It also furthers the rush for planets at the beginning. If the pop on your home planet wouldn't grow back as fast, you'd think twice about whether you really can
Tutorials go in [galciv2]/gfx/tutorials Movies in [galciv2]/movies Multimedia is harder, there is no multimedia folder and since I don't know what exactly is in the multimedia package... there's a "Event Music" and a "Music" folder in the [galciv2] folder, that's probably where they go. Maybe you downloaded the main program last? Usually the add-on folders get installed in the right place automatically if you install the main prog
Lol, that's the one thing we'll most likely never get. The GalCiv I manual was out of date pretty quickly and the GalCiv II manual was horribly out of date even before the game came out. The reason for this is that the game is tweaked constantly and as such, a document like the one you ask for would only be valid for about a week or two until the next patch. Besides, such detailed formulas usually aren't what devs provide, they usually are
You will know which tech is good after playing for a while. I agree that the current way of presenting the info is not optimal, but it's not that bad either.
It's not a bug, the manual simply is wrong. The number in parantheses that is not spent only exists for military production, social production is wasted. hbjeff, I answered in your original thread.
You can only max one of the three productions, military, social OR research. To change how much goes to which one, use the three sliders in the economic setting. So, putting 100% on research means maxing research and not doing any of the other two. If you want to additionally have military production, you have to make it e.g. 50/50, and so on... The mps and tps of factories and the like are only *potential* production. Meaning that's what you woul
It doesn't matter how smart that is from the AI (*if* it is. Which I don't think). Fact is that they share the same tech and that makes it very boring to play against them... they all have the same weapon types, the same defense types, the same bonuses etc etc. The problem is not so much that you can't outtech them as easily, the problem is that they all have the same stuff.
Upgrade one ship... while doing that click the checkbox under the picture of the ship (don't know the exact text... something like "upgrade all")
Just look at the log: They regularly trade techs for ridiculous techs in return. One on one trades. Whether that is a cheat or just due to the random "good offer" Brad posted about, doesn't matter at all. It ruins the game in many ways: All AIs having the same kind of weapons and defenses, all AIs having the same weeknesses and strengths... not to mention the frustration of not getting ahead of them technologically even though my research is double or more of theirs. No matter what t
I'm wondering: If you give the AI a better deal (by asking less), does that make him like you more? In that case I wouldn't mind to lose a few BC by not trading optimally. Small gifts go a long way.
Also, in discussions like these, always state your difficulty level. The AI is dumb as a rock on the lower ones and might be able to buils better on higher levels. That said, I don't build farms that often either, the morale problems just don't seem to make it worthwhile. And the AI *does* build farms from time to time, even on "normal". So... no complaints on this topic from me.
Guys, it doesn't matter how important it is to each of us individually or whether we get a different "nice" effect... it's broken, so it should be fixed. And the social production stuff affects every planet in every game and makes a whole line of bonuses worthless so I'd say it's a pretty serious bug. Same with research, of course. The number of people not being able to play is pretty low (look at other forums after release... this here is nothing in comparison), but of course that doesn't
Edit: Grmpf, server timed out, double post.
Yeah, well, look at the dates, when I started this thread and when he posted. Anyway, I'm glad we got at least some response.
I'm sorry but that comment about the console is completely off. There are some technical bugs, sure, but what is really annoying is the huge number of game mechanics bugs. Math on a whole lot of bonuses not working (be it civ-wide or star base dependant), same with morale, excessive AI tech trading (yes, I call it a bug, it's completely destroying the whole system, especially the 3 attack types one), and so on and so forth. Those have absolutely nothing to do with the amount of systems you have
You can click on "more" on the lower left of the screen. Other than that, no, nothing you can do.
Also, the surrendering to someone else just to spite you is way too excessive. You can wage a lot of wars and end up with two or three new planets while the other AIs gain a dozen without doing anything because they always surrender to them instead of to you. It should only happen when they are really close friends, not just to annoy you.
This is not a bug per se, but it's the cause for the tech trading desing flaw: Sometimes you randomly get very good trade deals which are way better than what you would get if you initiated the deal. Don't know why, probably supposed to be some simulation of goodwill. The problem is that the AIs do this to each other all the time as well and are thereby spreading there techs amongst each other, leading to every AI having the same techs.... look around
