It's all very confusing indeed. The way I try to think about it is that you only have enough workers to do ONE kind of production (military, social or research) at 100%. If you want to do more than one you have to divide them and so they can do less for each kind of production. Now, if you build a lab, for example, you are enhancing the infrastructure, so that with the same amount of workers, you can research more. Note that it's not r

Actuall, there are two problems with scrolling: - It starts scrolling even before you reach the edge, which is highly annoying because it starts to scroll everytime you try to press one of the buttons at the bottom the menu button. And it's completey unnecessary, why not just start scrolling when you reach the edge, just like with any other game? - No diagonal scrolling. Very annoying as well.

Give it up, misophist, most people don't want tactical (be it in this thread or in the poll) and that's the one fact even you can't refute. It's like with multiplayer: A very few loud people lobbying for their own interest without real backing by the (huge) majority. I'm glad Stardock didn't fall for it wrt multiplayer and I trust that they won't fall for it in this case either.

I guess what you are talking about is how the trade income changes with the distance of the trade route freighter from your own planet. So it would increase while the freighter is flying to the foreign planet and on the way back decrease and then that cycle starts again. And yes, it's like that in GCII as well.

I don't think they fit in there. I want to manage my huge empire, not babysit Admirals (or, even worse, individual crew members). I don't want to fly around with a couple of "heroes" while the rest of my fleets are cannon fodder. Makes strategic deployment nearly impossible (like in HoMM, a few heroes running around chasing the opponents heroes)

I'm actually glad there is no tactical combat. Sure, GalCiv I combat was bland but not because of lack of tactical combat but because you only had certain ships with fixed values and only an attack and a defense rating (unlike with the 3 different damage types in GalCiv II). Tactical combat was in MOO2, for example, and the only reason for me not to turn it off all the time was that the automatic combat always gave worse results than if I du

You guys should stop posting stuff like that... how are we supposed to stand the next 17 days with teasing like that? Other than that I'm glad to hear that the AI is that good and I'm looking forward to your further tweaks and enhancements.

Yes, you are being unreasonable. This is a game; if everything was to scale, you wouln't be able to do anything. What's the point of having a large star (be it exactly to scale or just 5 times as big) if all you want to do is click on the planets? Should the ships be to scale as well so you have to use magnifying glasses to find them? Plus, like mentioned before, more planets per system would be way too cluttered. Not to forget that t

Hi there! Quick question: Will there be a High Score table (or a Hall of Fame or whatever you want to call it) in GalCiv2? I know, there is the Metaverse but my gaming PC isn't connected to the web and I think an offline score table a la Civ IV would be pretty neat. Todd
