Ok, so how do I download the beta. I do find Sins under purchased software in Stardock Central but the install button is greyed out and won't let me press it. If I right click I get an option to Download Demo but that doesn't do anything either.

One way to have both a fourth race and a common tech tree, but still not really either, is that olds SF staple the Precursors. This ancient high-tech race populated the galaxy long ago before dying out/acending/whatever, leaving behind strange artifacts that can grant great power to whomever finds them and unlocks their mysteries.

Heh. Maybe you should send a note about this to some of the hardware enthusiast sites. Those guys can always use another way to test the stability of their overclocks, and it probably wouldn't hurt sales if GalCiv II became part of the regular test suite. It would probably be the first time a turn based strategy game was considered for such use.
