I agree with you, but also with the OP's observation that the current system is a little off-putting. The whole thing as is just looks a bit awkward, since I don't see enough visual cues that my unit is really going to move. Once I've finished with my active moves, I'm ready for the end turn button, but since my pre-progr

Right now, we're still playing essentially a paid Beta, and it's understandable that they're still ironing out/ba

Emboldened, I tried the same trick on my buddy's C64. We timed it, the game actually took longer to load off disk than the tape! The Commodore 1541 disk drive was an utter nightmare, we used to start loading E

The Internet used to be green and black TEXT, none of this fancy-schmancy streaming media. No Instant anything. We had to upload at 150 bits per second in the video snow every day. Both ways! Hmm, cassettes I could dig up on short notice, let's see. Telengard, of course. Andromeda Conquest, probably. Think I can still find my Empire of the Invincible Overmind or whatever it was called. I forget if my copy of Starfighter was on t
I'd recommend instead of FFH2 you check out Planetfall, an Alpha Centauri remake, or maybe Rise of Mankind, which adds a ton of new techs and gameplay to Civ IV/BTS (bts required).
Damn, I didn't even know Planetfall existed. I just dl'd and clicked on a few random sound files........ I'll, uh, be back in a week or two. Ask Brad to rewrite the tactical combat system while I'm gone.

A lot of great ideas here, shadowtounge, and I suspect it won't be long before combat overhauls start zerging the mod community. One word of caution, it may be a little premature. From a growing number of forum threads, it seems that we both don't yet have a complete understanding of exactly how the "Vanilla" system works, or just what changes (tweak or fundamental shift) Brad and his team will be willing/able to effect. It's a bit early (late?) to send Elemental down a&nbsp
