They increase your charisma by ten points....
Always? It would be cool to have an option to not know what effect they have until after you hire them. Maybe a random value (-10 to +10). Then you could hire and fire your staff. Even that (hiring/firing) could have an effect on your campaign!

I've finally decided to try a custom candidate. I have created one and saved it, but when I start a game the candidate is not listed. When I click the 'Custom' tab the only option I have is to create a new one. If I try to save another new one I can see the first file I created and saved. Am I missing something??
I can't speak for everyone here but I was drinking Diet Coke. It has the kind of ingredients my body needs to one day be the host for some kind of malicious cancer.
 Considering how short the time was between this game being announced and being released, I'm very happy to find this is a solid release. I also have a Logitech mouse and had the same problem. You have to go into the Logitech mouse control panel and change the wheel button. To do this I had to select the wheel button, then select 'other' as the task, then select 'middle button' in the select function area. Works great now!

I was watching the tutorials movies (great tutorials by the way!) and I noticed that you could not only drag the map with the left mouse button, but it looked like you could rotate the map just as easily. How do you do that?? I know there are the 1-4 view buttons but that didn't seem to let me rotate the map.

Sadly, I didn't really notice this and sent my flagship proudly off to help fight the war... Captain: Lock on target and fire! Helm: Um, sir, we don't really have any weapons. Captain: Doh!
