I am still getting these OOM issues, and I'm running Nvidio Geforce 8600M GT on Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2 (with all patches and updates for graphic cards and OS). Animations and sound go away, then I'll get OOM error/crash. Also, the game almost always blows up on exit, and just accessing the main menu or starting a new game in the same session after 20 to 30 minutes of play is enough to cause the game to blow up as well. Play long enough on a windows vista premium 32bit, and you get OOM as well. Mem used showed 1.6 Gig at the error (on a system with 3 Gig RAM). Elemental was showing 1 Gig of ram usage on Task Man. After I clicked the the "Ok" button, it took a few seconds, then memory reported dropped very quickly on the task. It paused at 70K, then completed going away. Does it always crash on load, or does it work after you restart the game in a new session or after rebooting the machine and restarting? I've found the game always crashes on a reload in the same session. But if I save a turn, do somethig silly like click on the wrong thing and send my sov into battle by himself and then exit the game to desktop, restart the game, and load the autosave or the saves I've made, loading the save then works.
There is a feedback on the world creation screen. There is a progress bar that advances as it goes through its creation cycle. If that bar isn't doing anything, the game isn't doing anything. The game currently (version 0.98) has serious issues with restarting within the same session, whether it is new game or just loading a save of a previous turn. Further observations on 0.98 Beta 4 restarting behavior --- you are now clearing out the application data appropriately. This leads to crashes on reloads of a saved game during a user reloading a previous turn. A very common thing users are going to do, especially when they are learning the game and just realized they clicked the wrong thing and ruined whatever it was they had worked hard to earn (ie, discarded an equipment item granting bonuses) or clicked the wrong choice on a quest and did
Follow up - seems to be easily repeatible by: 1. Start new session of Beta 4. 2. Pick General Carrudus. 3. Take all other defaults. 4. On new game map, hit escape. 5. Return to main menu. 6. start new game 7. click through to new game--- General Carrudus will still be selected. 8. Note your general Carrudus is missing all bonuses, including sentinals.
Beta 4 Bug - Didn't start new game with 2 sentenials, despite previous (re)starts having them. Started Elemental Beta 4. Picked the Hardy Warlord that should start with 2 Sentinals, General Carrodus. First start was surrounded by other sovereigns and their new cities. Exited that game to main menu, restarted with same options. Had both sentinals on starting the second game of the session. Staff description in Item shop says: "A think wooden.." think should be thick. Minor, but it is still there and we are getting close enough t the finish that these little things also need to get fixed whenever someone gets the 5 minutes free to correct it.

I've had this issue on my laptop, and it doesn't have a middle button.
I like the cloth map. My only complaint with it is that EVERYTHING is flat. If the "colored bits" were raised (or indented), it would be very cool--- and very INFORMATIVE. Can we get some embordery on our cloth map? (wink) I have managed to have fun with Beta1, so far. What can I say? I have very slow scrolling as well. This is what I've found to get around it: With NO unit selected, left click on the map. That will center the map on that point. To continue on, just click again on where you want the map to center.
Who doesn't read the EULA? Don't you want to know what you are legally agreeing to before you jump in?
Humm... main page says June, and its July 1 as of this post. Would be nice if they updated that to September.
