There's a certain dragon that doesn't agree with you
Well no actually. The discussion I was replying to is about why things can't be sold digitally for less then retail store price when a game first comes out. And cataclysm costs the same online as in the retail store.
These are new times. If you've got a good game, pay the game sites to advertise it and tell the retail outlets to kiss your behind.
We aren't quite at the point where that's an option for any major title yet but hopefully it's not too far off.
Well... a few things to consider with digital distribution. It is obviously cheaper for a company to sell digitally than through a store. No retail packaging, no shelf space, no media to create, etc. Additionally, unless its the companies digital distribution platform, there is no cost to them outside of what they pay the digital distributer. For instance, if bf2 retails for $40, the question becomes what does ea charge st

This is largely due to the fact that the AI is completey incompetent and just does things at random. There were a few challengin

If you haven't played it, I would strongly recomend the original puzzle quest over puzzle quest 2. Puzzle quest 2 is nowhere close to being as good.

Funny reading people on the Elemental forum wondering how things slipped past testers, talking about how a patch wont make much difference and that AI issues may never be solved. Thanks for the laugh guys. Patience. Is. Virtue.
In all fairness, many of the people on the elemental forums are just as critical about elemental.

Last I checked the civ fanatics boards there were some good things being said about the gameplay changes in the new patch but the general opinion seemed to be that the AI was still poor. Unfortunately AI is the thing that needed the most help by far. A step in the right direction I suppose, but at the rate it's going Civ5 may never solve it's AI issues. You really need to design a game with how the AI will handle it in mind, which Civ 5 clearly did not do. I guess many of the s

Having played through WoW since the beginning I do understand many of ZehDon complains about BC. I don't agree that it was worse then vanilla upon release. But the whole attunement system didn't work very well, and there were definitely significant issues they didn't think through with their initial raid progression setups. Of course vanilla WoW had tons of issues too. The state of BC on release is irrelevent though because all the raiding things ZehDon complains about were

Far, far more people were killed in those actions then have ever been killed by terrorists, largely because the millitary has much bigger guns. Reply to Eve Online in PC Gaming

Having played both EVE and WoW, I thought I'd mention that they are EXTREMELY different games. I wouldn't necesarily assume that because you like one that you will like the other. EVE (at least when I played it which was a long time ago) is more similar to a simulation style game, by which I mean you are given more freedom to do whatever you want in the universe and face the consequences. To some extent players make their own gameplay by forming corporations and pirating each other and the fo

That's an act of war, and depending on your perspective it may be viewed as immoral (I certainly did not support it). But it is not an act of terrorism.

Perhaps the biggest sign that the tipping point on direct download has been reached is that the newest WOW expansion is available for DD (and of course only from Blizzard). This is something that many retail stores were up in arms about because it will severely hurt their sales and at least a few threatened to boycott sales of their game (a tactic that has stopped titles in the past from being available for DD). Regarding the price of games, I'm pretty sure DD sites can't charge anyth

You give yourself a chance to destroy your opponent and win, however, by doing that, you also guarantee that if your attack fails, you are the one th

It's also interesting to note that the latest expansion for World of Warcraft is now being sold online directly by Blizzard. Given that this is one of the very last titles that does get significant shelf space at retail stores, it's likely to have a shrinking effect on PC shelf space as well.
