There had actually been some hints from Frogboy for a little while that something really big was going to happen that would add a lot of additional competition to the digital download market. I didn't quite take that to mean that they were selling Impulse though.

Certainly Impulse is likely to be a much more viable competitor to Steam with such a major backing behind it. Competition is good so I guess it's probably good for the PC market as a whole. What it means for Impulse fans specifically though is more questionable. It's unlikely that Impulse will remain unchanged and fans tend to be unhappy with change.
Fallen Enchantress will likely feel a lot closer to MOM than War of Magic because MOM was much MUCH more about the tactical decisions -- the importance of special abilities and effective use of specific spells.
I also thought that the most fun parts of MoM were early in the game when you were still exploring the world and dealing with taking over nodes and dungeons, and the various ramp

I'm actually most excited because they are changing and revamping so much stuff. I don't think WoM was ever thought through enough to have the potential to become a good game. It just threw in a whole bunch of features without much thought to how they would work to getter to create a fun or challenging game. It needed a complete redesigning if it was ever to reach the quality of GalCiv. I'm also excited because Kael is working on the project and he did such a great job wit
I think you're missing the point. The point is that there's very little chance the sequel will be worse than E:WoM. While I personally consider E:WoM the largest gaming disappointment since Master of Orion 3, I think we should all look to the future with FE. I'm willing to give Stardock an honest chance with it. If they deliver this time, I promise to wipe away as much memory of E:WoM as I possib
It is most likely true that you will not like the game. However I wouldn't necesarily say that this game feels typical of the sim series, it's a pretty interesting attempt at a fantasy simulation where everyone's job depends on everyone else's. Oof, I can't imagine restarting the game to play through a second time with a more advanced ambition. That would be way too many hours of painful repetition and it's not like the gameplay is all that deep to begin with. I do like things about the game, it's interesting to unlock new classes and experience playing from their eyes. I like how, for example there are advantages to doing quests with my blacksmith because it levels him up and provides more gear for my other clas

It kind of sounded like a co-op board to me too, at least in theory. In reality though I'm not sure how different it would be from a regular corporation. It would have shares owned by the public and they would determine the staff that leads it. Isn't that how every corporation works?

I hate to say it but this probably wasn't a case of dishonesty or some internally promoted nefarious actions. Consider how it must feel to be an employee at

I guess my thoughts are that if I were ever so poor that I could not afford internet, then not being able to play my old games would be a pretty insignificant problem compared to all of the other problems that I'd be facing. It's hard to imagine a situation where I would be at such a crippling level of poverty that I would give up something as essential to daily living as the internet, while still being in a position to have an extensive gaming library and a computer capable of

There's also the question of how many of the 3-5% who refuse to use Steam would be willing to use Impulse Reactor. I got the sense that many of them are opposed to DRM in any form. In terms of game libraries, I'm the opposite of RavenX. I'd rather have a digital one then a physical one any day. I've lost track of how many physical copies of games I've lost, damaged, or simply decided wasn't worth the effort of moving to a new apartment.

In all fairness, while I wouldn't give Starcraft a 10/10 myself, I have many friends who would. There are enough people who love that game, that I don't think you can say that the glowing reviews are unreasonable and biased just because you didn't like it quite as much as they did. Clearly there are plenty of people who agree with it getting very high scores.

I didn't really get an RPG vibe from the article either, or at least no more then Sims 3 was with it's levels, xp and skills. It seemed more like an extremely goal oriented fantasy life simulator, with a little kingdom management too. That's actually what makes me interested in the game, the fact that it has the potential to be something different and unusual. But like anything different, it could crash and burn as well. As a side note they did hint at crafting when they talked about

The review made it look pretty interesting for me. I always ALMOST liked the Sims games, but they never quite appealed to me. It's risk, but this might just be something I like. Plus I'm a sucker for unlockable characters, especially if using them is something you can do as part of the main story and not just when you finish the game.
I would argue that chess isn't actually simple, a matter of a few rules. Each piece essentially has it's own rules and movement, plus some pieces have, "special," moves. When the options are multiplied out, I don't see it as a small set of rules, but a large set of options for its size. I see chess as a small game, with a large set of options. On the outside, sure, you move and take pieces. Simple. On the inside, it's how all those different movement rules fit together and how one can

But EA wanted to cash in on the series, so they made Bioware release way early. So they just took their planned first act, fleshed it out with a bunch of sidequests and used the new mechanics that they developed and called it a whole game. That would explain the complete lack of a larger story, the ending (which is a cliffhanger o

So far the story is my main concern about the game too. DA1 had a story that grabbed me right from the beginning, first with the human noble background and then with the battle of ostraggar (sp?). The rest was a little more standard, but still good enough to keep me going and really interested in what was going to happen next. I've only finished part 1 of DA2, but the pacing is nowhere nearly as good. I'll see how things go from there. I have no problem with any of the game mecha
