Ahhhh, that little movie is looking excellent. Love the graphic touches you came up with between beta 3 and 4. Please show us more to kill time waiting for beta 4 to arrive.

Not an AAR but I'll settle for some really nice shiny new highres pictures for now! Looking excellent guys. Shame about the delay but with Endless Space and Warlock (1.2) there's enough to keep me busy till the 16th. Really looking forward to trying out beta 4 on my new laptop. Oh and please give us that AAR in about two weeks. Pretty please... ;)

Hey Brad, I guess no one would really mind you putting up one of your infamous AAR's of, in this case, beta 4?! I for one would love it and enjoy the agony it's gonna cause me to want to play beta 4 myself yet not being able to do so. [e digicons]^_^[/e] Next step would be seeing patchnotes up and just before the pain is killing all the people on these forums the true beta 4 release.
I love it! It seems to be a great year for the 4x genre. A great FE beta, Warlock and now Endless Space. I really enjoy ES thusfar. Sure the similarities with GalCiv II are there but it feels like the next evolution. The tech tree is really nice, I really like the atmosphere of the game and like said the UI is the best I've ever seen in a 4x game. The FE UI is getting better but I hope that Stardock will take notice and improve further on it.
Great update Derek. Giving us al this information really shows how much good thinking you guys put in the upcoming update. Eager to test out the city differentiation. Seems like a very interesting idea to connect this to the three tech trees.
FE's ESRB-rating just went up to M for obscenity! ;)
You're just ahead of me. I stumbled upon a pretty scary Karavox with a 106 attack. This stacking is insane. And worse there's no way to dispel these buffs. It's probably good ai play, but it's over the top. Just like Dirge of Cersesa. My first time using this spell I killed a complete field of deadly opponents guarding a dragon eye. I was chanceless and my army got slaughtered, but Dirge of Ceresa killed them all in almost one blow. The rest was sone the next turn thanks to po
The death shard demon is formidable, but the others are forgettable. This combined with the super death spell of Dirge(sp?), almost force you to follow the same tactic all the time. Get shards, corrupt, level demon and win easily.
I agree, to succeed you would have to use death magic. The other elementals need to scale as the game goes on to make them useful in the endgame. That's where Resoln suffers already because of the lack
Karavox asks me to go to war. But who is this mystery mage? I had no option to say or no too. Just goodbye. After clicking goodbye it looked like the game was going to crash (not responding) but after a few seconds I could continue my game as normal.
In your review of Resoln you forget to mention the Cydrum Demon (death shard unit). Quite the formidable unit once you get it upgraded. My Ceresa army with three bunches of Cydrym Demons is pretty scary right now.

Looking really promising again. Can't wait to try out Altar's new ability or see the Juggernaut in action.
Congrats on the inevitable win. Like said, it's been a joy to watch this game all the way to the end.
Bigger problem is it's too inconsistent game to game. My last game I had carved out probably a quarter of the map to myself very quickly with mostly fertile terrain while the AI was all boxed in by opponents and surroundings. Other games I'm the one boxed in.
I agree. I don't mind at all that there aren't too many places where you can settle. A nice mechanism to stop city spamming along
For only one dollar? Sure! But it has to be PBEM or Pitboss since that's the only way I would play multiplayer.
Challenging remains the best AI level without AI cheating. But for it to get better, much of it has to come from me getting better at the game and watching how others play the game. So often times, when someone says "Why is the AI doing this?" it's because that is what I'd be doing in that situation. The player is effectively playing me except with lots of statistical analysis.
Excellent! So hard is just get
quoting post + AI: Challenging difficulty uses more CPU intensive algorithms for more challenge As an aside to AI difficulty, I thought Challenging was the highest level of pure AI, meaning no buffs but it uses every AI algorithm at its disposal. Hard was meant to be Challenging plus some buffs. I remember Brad saying that at some point or at least I think I do. Is that actually the case? &n
Yay for changelists! Curious about new ai-stuff Brad comes up with.
5) Based on my first game (challenging) and the excellent vids by Das I come to the conclusion that the AI is falling short mid game. As soon as you survive the (excellently balanced) beginning of the game as a player and you can finally make some decent stacks it's basically game over for the AI. In the beginning you can have some very tight battles with the AI due to scarceness of units. That's the part where the AI can keep up, but when you are finally able to create bigger
Looking at the vids, it seems that the AI has trouble in the midgame to organize its armies. In the beginning we saw some very tight battles due to scarceness of units. That's the part where the AI can keep up, but when you finally were able to create bigger armies the AI started fallling short. Looking at their rating they should be able to come up with some pretty serious armies but it's too loosely organized. I think Brad's going to have a tough nut to crack there. AI n
Looks like this one is won, but you still have to take care. Shows the AI still has to learn a lot but it has improved significantly. It's still throwing around heroes and weak armies too easily. In the early game this can lead to some tight fights but in the current stage these 'stacks' are just fodder. Anyways, keep it up, have been watching every single episode.
That DOES look really cool!
