Thanks for the link BuckGodot. With that info and in the absense of anyone saying they've got it working ok I guess the ol' gaming budget will be going on Sid's new game instead.

Anyway, as my original post stated, I'm just reaching out to see if anyone has the current beta working ok under Vista? cheers.
DirectX 11, Vista home premium service pack 2 (64-bit), 6 GB ram. Cheers.
Hi there, Long time galciv 1/2 player here. I just noticed the steam sale and was tempted to pick up the beta... now I know the official requirement is for 64-bit windows 7 or later, but I'm stuck on 64-bit Vista for the time being and remember that there was some talk last year that the game might work on vista (although obviously unsupported). So my question is, predictably, is anyone running the current beta ok under vista? thanks!
This is a fantastic mod, thanks to all the team involved in this - the quality, scope and attention to detail really makes this one of the best mods ever. I am struggling with the difficulty though. I can only play single player as my gaming time tends to be frequently interrupted, and I've been struggling to set up skirmish games where I don't just get crushed. I've been playing Sins for years and I got used to 5-7 opponents, most hard a
Something I’ve been noticing from my Rebellion AI skirmish games is that the AI doesn’t seem to be coping well with the Rebellion changes. I tend to play the game like this: (hey, it makes me happy, YMMV of course [e digicons]:)[/e] ) Grab a few systems while fending off early rush attacks and pirate raids. Build some serious defences, dabble in a bit of diplomacy to make nice with at least one neighbour Research and
God I *loved* XCOM. I was so excited at hearing about the reboot I just went and google'd only to find from 2k's press release that this is going to be... a first person shooter.... That makes me a saaaad panda. [e digicons]:([/e]
update: turned windows firewall on just while applying the latest hotfix and it went through without any errors - first time that's happened installing an Elemental update for me. So installing an update with the firewall off does look like a possible cause of " <
I experienced this same error updating to 1.08. I don't use any anti-virus software. Nothing new was written to debug.err. A GDFInstall.log file was created but just contains: DLL path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Elemental\GDF_Elemental.dll Install directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Elemental\ Game exe path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Elemental\Elemental.exe I also don't use windows firewall as I us
I tried that encounter again and was indeed able to nuke the l'il devil down with fireballs before he could cause any mischief, thanks for the tip. After that I thought I was in for an epic struggle, me with a ~1000 point army, and my last AI opponent having lots more territory and cities, but a bit behind militarily... but then AI committed suicide by attacking my main force with a sad bunch of soldiers and his sovereign. The sovereign had some crazy defense, but in the end d
Even if my sovereign had more health he'd have been left looking verrry lonely after that Arcane Doom :) Oh well maybe I didn't do anything too silly. Think I'll try and find an autosave and give that one another go.... curse you Stardock and your one-more-turnalicious games!
So there I am, taking it slow on my second game about 80-ish? turns in (beginner difficulty or so), spreading my research around fairly evenly, some nice cities coming along, water shard, some nice gold coming in, feeling quite safe on a nice peninsula, transport ships out as scouts in case anyone tries to go around my main army. I've got my main sovereign guy, 2 adverturers, and a bunch of archers and honour guards, plus a few summoned beasties in this main army.
missing something obvious.. having created a Govenor build list how do I tell colonies to follow it?
It's probably staring me in the face but I couldn't spot how to swap the mouse buttons for a left handed set up? cheers.
I still like the ship names from the Iain M Banks "Culture" novels best. I think they were aiming to get an early build up on stardock for drengin subscribers in June, (well it convinced me to upgrade... LOL ) so that's got to soon right? Unless it's slipped. But I'm patient. I've got it under control. I'm only checking stadock once an hour or so... ;)

Well I'm fed up. My accomplishments with this game have been relatively minor, I'm enjoying playing it but my level of difficulty took time going from beginner to normal. I'm now 14 or so games in and the metaverse scores have started to be a significant prompt to play more games. Until that is I saw someone in the top 20 after 2 games.. (1 simple & 1 beginner!) Now it's very clear that my scores are not being compared in a fair manner to those of my fellow players so this will be
I'm not experiencing any CTD's, and can add improvements ok in the planet screens, but on the Govenors screen no improvements show up - the boxes are just blank. This was the same on a previously saved game loaded into 1.05.069 and on a new game. Anyone got any ideas how to help?

Yep 77. Changed the balance of power somewhat (I considered 1 corvette orbiting a planet adequate defense at that time). Until most of them decided to attack a super hardened starbase one at a time.... LOL Then I found 54! and used them a little more sensibly. anyone else seen any OTT ship finds? ~SDC~
