Each discrete element of gameplay has to be debated to determine if it belongs in this game. Globally saying something should be in the game because it was in another similar game is about as bad as saying that it shouldn't. However when your examing discrete elements of games its fine to bring up their success or failure in similar games. In other words, stop globalizing and start talking specifics.

I made the same face when they made food a global resource as I did when I figured out how the slider/building maintenance/local and global economy worked in galciv, it wasn't pretty. This is some weird brainstorming idea that unfortunatly got off the table and into the game that I don't think they quite worked through, I hope it gets canned before release. Also please stop with the "they had to dumb it down for a wider audience" argument. It doesn't make any logical sense a
I wish it would be the advanced trade system they debated very early on. Food should be localized and only shared between cities with caravans as well as other resources like iron, I think we also need a few more resource types with applicable nodes which allow certain items to be built. Building synergies would be a great addition and liven up the building process. Doubt any of this will happen. Just upsets me cause I know there are alot of us that wanted an advanced trade system and
Confirmed. If you research harvesting first before placing a garden you get the garden in the build list but cant actually place it.
They made the classic mistake of appealing to the broad audience thinking it was 90% of the buyers so who cares about the 10% hardcore folks. Problem is the mainstream buyers make their purchasing decision usually off the hype generated by the hardcore crowd.
Well since I got bashed i went and started up as many of my steam games as I could from the .exe and about 60% of them launched without starting steam and the others launched steam before starting, Plenty from this decade heck Bioshock2 didn't load the steam client. So i'll take the hit that for games tightly integrated into Steamworks you launch the client even when launching the .exe but you can go into offline mode and start the steamworks games just fine as well so there
I will be the first to say that multiplayer is not going to be central to Elemental. It's only in there because we keep getting flack for not including multiplayer with our TBS games. It'll be reliable because we're spending the bucks to host on our own machines each and every game (except for those who choose to set up their own games who, one presumes, know what they're doing). But I wouldn't be willing to sacrifice a
The failure, imho, of demigod was the poor choice of peer 2 peer network architecture causing multitudes of connection issues. Would be interesting to see where demigod would be if the did client/server and supported it well, might not have had everyone flock to league of legends (which is insanely popular). The failure of Sins is mostly due to the lack of, early adoption, impulse as containing a friends list. I think a sins 2 with full impulse and/or steamworks integration and just g
I would like to see the actualy placement have consequences, obviously for defensive purposes but perhaps also synergies, housing next to a farm increases output but only huts for instance. So I do like this idea!
Are people here really that ignorant about Steam. You can just go into your game folder and launch it via the startup .exe and never have to even start Steam. this is one-time only internet activation for DRM. Ubisoft is the one producing games you have to be online all the time to play, settlers 7, Silent hunter 5, and all other current and future Ubisoft titles you have to be online all the time to play. I have officially boycitted all ubisoft games. Steam gives you </
The object of beta 2 will be to begin the testing of the server infrastructure. Elemental is client/server for its multiplayer. In fact, it’s dedicated server for beta 2 – players will be playing on our own servers distributed across the world. The reason for this is that it eliminates the whole connectivity issue – if you can get on the web, you should be able to play. At least, in theory.
I take it you learned a lesson from Demigod? Nice
Just wondering are we going to need random maps to move to b2?
Mass Effect is essentially an interactive movie, and that movie happens to be a cheesy action flick. I happen to like cheesy action flicks from time to time. The reaon the comaprision doesn't work is your comparing war and peace to a chessy romance novel. Also sometimes your in the mood for romance or action and ME2 fills that entertainment desire quite nicely. And the reason that particular cutscene is pretty cool over just watching a regular action flick is that the outcome can change depen
Google just become far to overrun with ads and misleading revenue driven search results. I;ve switched to bing beccause its better and far less bloated. Although time will only tell how long it can stay away from the abyss google has recently fallen into , just like every other search engine.
for months yet...
giggle if its out before 2011 ill be impressed
Confirmed for me very annoying bug. You can actually play an old adventure style hunt and click game to find out where the miniature mouse over has moved from where its represented on screen.
