@Das123 While there was never a speed option (as far as I remember) in the original games, the original Star Control game allowed each of the two players to be one of four types: Human – The human completely controls this side. Computer – The computer completely controls this side. Cyborg – Computer fights battles for human players. Psytron – Co

One of my favorite things to do in the original Star Control was to start a game with two computer players and just watch. A typical game didn't last more than about half an hour so it was a good way to kill a little time. Is making this an option in Origins on the roadmap?
I wanted to create a set civilizations based on Star Control II with the level of quality found in the GC3 stock races. So far, all I have is a 3D model of an Arilou, made using Sculptris. Since this only took me a couple of days, I figure I can have the whole thing done in a decade. Two, tops.
You would just uncheck Crusade to disable it.
I can confirm that this works but is a very unfortunate way to have to do things. For those who think his response is unclear: Be under the Library tab (click Library if it's not already selected). You need to be in Details View. In the menu bar, click View -> Games Details. Single-click Galactic Civilizations III under the games list.</li
Is there a setting, command line switch, Steam trick, etc. that will let me run GalCiv3: Mercenaries after Steam has already installed Crusade? I remember the launcher for GalCiv2 having a way to switch what game you wanted to run but the current launcher doesn't seem to have that feature. I've got a save from the previous version that I've put a fair number of hours into and would like to see it through to the end. The saves are still there, in Documents/My Games/GalCiv3/Games,
I've enjoyed seeing these feedback documents to your team, giving us a small glimpse into your process. If you'll humor me a moment, I'd like to make a comment or two. Xeno Farming I would actually prefer to see a more sciencey term than "farming." I would suggest Xeno Horticulture or Xeno Agriculture (horticulture has more to do with plants where as agriculture has to do with all of farming including animal husbandry). Another term that soun
The idea of megastructures brings to mind something I'd like to see in GC3: Multiple solutions to a problem. Considering the idea of a Dyson sphere, even if you're building it around a smaller red dwarf, you'd still need several hundred time the mass of our own solar system to physically construct the sphere, in this case the approaches would require different tech levels, depending on the specific approach. The first approach might be what a software engineer would call t
Since Stardock recently acquired rights to Star Control, will there be any "product placement" in GC3? For example, will you make the Zoq-Fot-Pik a minor race? :-D
What Stardock could do is find a handful of musical artists from varying styles and release them with some UI skinning as DLC theme packs for GC3. If lesser-known artists were chosen for these packs, it would allow them to get some name recognition (along with an entry on their resume) and might keep the cost of such an addition to gameplay down. I, myself, would enjoy some Amiga MOD style music, similar to Star Control II. Either that or some Joplin-style rags (picture a sweeping space battl
I would like to see the ability to "uplift" (a term I first saw in the Star Control series) a minor race, turning them into a major race mid-campaign. Such an act would have numerous consequences, both positive and negative.
By the way... I'm not affiliated with Stardock in any way. My original post was just a feeler to see what people would think about the idea, not to suggest that Stardock is doing this. Aside from my interest in GC3, I'm a software engineer (presently an embedded engineer, working on iPad software) and would be interested in meeting engineers of differing disciplines. I also am old-school, as I used to log onto BBSes in the late 80s and early 90s, where it was common for the owner of t
I think it'd be neat if there were a meet & greet sort of event for a major milestone such as the first Alpha release. I myself only live a few hours outside of the Detroit area.
Agents should definitely be able to be placed according to a goal, not just a mechanism where Spy = Stopped Work. An agent saboteur should, eventually, be able to disable an entire planetary facility, but the change should be gradual. The facilities in GC aren't one building where a spy could walk in, flip a switch, and shut the place down. On the other hand, the spy could spread discord among the workers causing a decrease in productivity, that might lead to strikes and/or riots.
This seems right in line with the ideology system being implemented in with GC3. An additional consideration could be the ideology of the other races. For example, exhibiting dominance over a conquered planet could cause a race whose ideology respects such dominance to also respect you while, at the same time, decrease respect from ideologies opposed to dominance over others. I hope that, if the devs haven't already considered this, that they'll examine it to see if it would f
The first PC game I ever played, that I remember the name of, was a floppy of 5 text adventures in the early 80s that included: The Golden Baton Arrow of Death, Part 1 Arrow of Death, Part 2 The Time Machine Escape from Pulsar 7 As my age at the time was in the single digits, I never actually beat any of those games.
