Well done critique with many points I agree with and some I never even discovered as yet. You need to keep this up since you clearly have an eye for detailed analysis without cluttering it with hyperbolic criticisms/inane comments. Kudos and I hope this gets the attention from Brad & team that it deserves.

Funny thing is, I've been playing the game and it works fine. No crashes since 1.06. Some UI glitches, but no game stoppers. AI is weak, but it is trying to annoy me at least and succeeding (on normal). Is it a work in progress? Yes, of course it is and Stardock is the first to tell you that. I'm in it for the long haul but that's just me. I don't have money to throw away, either, so this purchase was a leap of faith in Brad and his team. So far
I too vote for having a cities screen with all of them laid out, what they have, what they hold, what they are building, etc. For that matter, it would be great to have a screen with all of my combat units, including NPC's arrayed out as well. Civilization has some nice ideas of how to implement such screens and especially if they are sortable, they can be very useful for managing a large empire/kingdom in a big map.
Well, if we only "watch" games and don't "buy" them, then how long before even independent design houses dry up and we have no PC games left at all to play except shooters and click fests? I agree that Elemental very much seems to reflect Brad's mindset, visions and preferences. In that sense it is hard to compare it to other games that reach broad audiences. Brad has a small design and development team and uses nonprofessional beta testers (i.e. early purchasers) to help
One question to those who have mentioned that they could not build up cities due to a lack of buildable tiles - did you try to have your sovereign lower or raise land before you built the city? That can dramatically increase the buildable area available. I've started about 10 games so far and have finished none, so perhaps I'm missing something here, but I think I'll next try a strategy of only building cities where there is something valuable to justify their existence, and the
Well, so far I'm content. The game does not crash except when I try to do an in-game reload from saves. It does crash then, but it loads them OK from the starting screen, so no biggie, I know it will be fixed. As to gameplay, well so far the AI is not really too aggressive on Normal but the critters are a nuisance, even if the other factions don't attack much. The one real attack they tried so far sent in the troops piecemeal, which was a mistake for them but good fo
I too crash if I try to load a saved autosave game from within an active game, but if I re start and select load autosaved game, it usually seems to load up fine from the start menu. Not sure if it is the same problem as yours, but it does sound like something's broke in the reload while in game department. Not a game breaker, more of a nuisance for me.
I love it! Thanks for all your hard work! :) I can really get into a game that gets so much TLC from its developer(s). Thank goodness you guys love TBS as much as I do! Now I know this is a game I can stay with for a long, long time. That's important to me because there are not many games that I enjoy any more.
I too had performance problems until I read that there was a new Nvidia driver available for laptops. Solved 95% of the issues and my game does not crash any more. What other company releases a day early and has a patch ready the next day? Be grateful, not gripe full, I say.
Brad, you are my HERO of the gaming world. If that sounds fanboyish, so what. I'm impressed with what you have done here and the way you keep delivering pleasant surprises to your fan base is wonderful. A labor of love and it shows it. If the industry was more like you, we'd have fabulous games but I'll settle for one or two standout independent developers like yourself. You keep us old TBS gamers (I'm 62) going. I am very much looking forward to ordering
I am looking forward to the game, primarily for sandbox mode and for the mods sure to come. Campaign type games have seldom interested me. The campaign here looks good, but not my cup of tea just yet. Perhaps I'll change my mind and try it once I've played some sandbox mode games and get hooked on the theme. The most comforting thing to me is Brad's commitment to the game and his personal investment in seeing it grow and succeed. Even if the initial relea
