I'm surprised you didn't finish the enemy off before you got to the Dragon research, takes so long to get there, probably could have steamrolled them many turns ago with plain cavalry.

Why double strike when you can be a Beastmaster and Maul enemies 60 times in a row?
It seems to me after playing quite a few maps that levelling up mutlitple heroes/champions is counter-productive and having just 1 uber army that farms all the monsters is a much stronger strategy. Not only is splitting the champions difficult due to needing 2 strong armies (more upkeep costs and time costs for producing units), but it means you'll be much weaker in the long run due to being at a much lower level. I think you should be able to let your sovereign have the option of
Summoner is incredibly powerful. You can literally walk around with a free lvl 12+ army of elementals by midgame and their final summon is a 500hp titan.
Yeah it's pretty strong, I remember being level 5 or 6? Using Air Elemental spell for the first time and summoning 9 Air Elementals, Now those can pretty much take on any army except deadly ones, and not to mention you don't have to worry at all about unit upkeep.
Berserk really doesn't need a buff, it's crazy strong early on and still powerful towards the end, get some warg riders with axes and+3 move trait you will pretty much reach most of the enemy units in the first turn and do a buttload of damage. Tip: use berserk after moving your units will take an extra move towards the enemy.
Disagree that they have little cost, time is everything in this game, sure you can sit in your armchair building a glorious civilization but you really need to balance that with your armies. You have to be careful what buildings you make in which order and each time you make a building that is time you could be spent making units. It's already a struggle to keep finances under control early on, putting a cost on buildings would just make the game frustrating. Not to mention having
Probably because Steam reaches a huge audience that no other platform comes near to, makes perfect business sense to put it on there.
Not really a problem, high initiative/fast moving units like wolves are really weak so you don't take that much damage even if there are several. Just move the weakest unit back and finish them off with your full strength units.
Love this game too, never played one of Stardock's games before, played quite a lot of turn based strategy though. I like how they melded the combat of Might & Magic with the city building of Civilization, I think it's such a great marriage of genres as well as the excellent customization options for pretty much every aspect of the game. The only thing I feel is missing is being able to play real fantasy races Orcs/Lizardmen/Undead etc. (I know there is the Stormfront mod,
I'd rather monsters did not fight the a.i. I need to kill as many monsters as possible myself to level my units.
Why should levelling be quicker? I already beat Strong armies fairly easily when my army is medium, I don't think you should be able to take on deadly till much later in the game.
