Any idea what night it will air on?
The Collector’s Edition The response from retailers on the Collector’s Edition has been unexpectedly strong. Having lots of in-box stuff (the Elemental CE box is going to be fat) seems to have hit a note with retailers and so many of them are picking it up. We plan to only do one manufacturing run because well, frankly, the profit margins on the collector’s edition isn’t as good as the standard edition but even still, if y
Woohoo! Kindle edition preordered!
The Empires look GREAT. I love the work that went into their leaders. My one quibble, though, is with Magnar III. The Trog skin used for him causes his hair to poke out of the top of his hair. I know he's meant to be Ugly, but he looks more absurd than imposing. ;) Otherwise, they all look fantastic. On the whole, I like the Imperial sovereigns better than those of the Kingdoms!
What a nice surprise! Thanks for the coupon, guys! That's very generous of you.
And I can see why Lord Verga is described as the most fearsome of all the Fallen. He's very imposing! Looks like the unholy lovechild of Sauron and Ghaleon from Lunar: The Silver Star.
This whets my appetite for Elemental all the more. You'd told us for a long time now that the game would be moddable to fundamental, foundational levels. And that it would be easy. But this is FAR beyond what I was expecting in both ease of use and extent to which the game could be modded. Fantastic!
I think this is fantastic news! The aspects of the game we've been permitted to play thusfar are enough to commend Elemental as a first-rate title. I look forward to the finished product and am overjoyed to see the die finally cast!
Isn't it, though? [e digicons][/e] Every time a friend asks me to recommend a PC game, the first I recommend is Crusader Kings. The second is Europa Universalis III, but there's something about CK, especially with the dynasty dynamic, that makes you hang on every single day, week, month, and year. You want to play for just a little while longer, to see what happens. Will your eldest son inherit? Will he die prematurely?&
Paradox Interactive has announced that if 25,000 people 'Like' the Facebook page they have launched for Crusader Kings 2, they will announce the game ... the sequel to what in my opinion and that of many other fans is the greatest strategy/RPG hybrid ever made. For those who may not have played the original Crusader Kings, imagine, if you will, being able to portray any of several HUNDRED Medieval family dynasties, from the progeny of William the Conqueror to the constant Comnenoi and P
I wonder if there's any truth to this Joystiq article? http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/07/elemental-war-of-magic-slated-for-august-24/ It seems an awfully specific date for them to just conjure out of the air! *fingers crossed in hope*
I would contend that Emperor of the Fading Suns had the greatest intro ever. It has drama, intrigue, and the best narration I've ever heard in an intro. It was VASTLY superior to the game itself! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TbVnwdro8o

Thanks again for everything, Travitar You beat me to it. Would love for this to be a Kindle book.
Yes, PLEASE, give us a Kindle edition! It would be great to have a Fertile/Potent trait to accelerate the chance/frequency of birthing children.
Quoting MTCason, reply 42For me, what made Master of Magic ompelling was the attention to detail. You missed the "c" in compelling.. sorry, I couldn't resist. I unfortunately got my old copy from a friend, and he didn't have all the supplemental content. Just a stack of floppies. I which I had the history stuff.
Bah. Must have deleted it when I was changing some of the wo
For me, what made Master of Magic compelling was the attention to detail . - When you researched a new spell, you got a neat little video of your chosen magician hunkered over their spellbook as it was hit with a beam of magical energy. Then, you see the text of your spellbook morph from some ancient and unknown language into a description of the spell. - Your cursor was a hand clutching a magical wand which left a wake of magic
Beyond being strategy games, there is nothing whatsoever to make Civ 5 and Elemental competitors. (And the idea of any further delays to the game make me want to punch someone in the neck. )
What's the big shiny thing with the bolt of raw magical energy shooting up into the sky? I want me one of those! [e digicons]:zoomba:[/e]
Now that's pretty innovative! Is it live now, though? I'm anxious for the first videos!
I don't think race really plays into it one way or another. Just because a character is not black does not mean they're Caucasian. Or Asian. Or Arabic. Or any other racial/ethnic stereotype.
I don't see any real Arab/Persian link. He may be swarthy-skinned, sure, but he's also largely in shadow, which adds to the 'dark' nature of this very menacing-looking Kraxian. Arab/Persian/etc. was not the first thing to pop into my head. 'This guy looks like one mean mutha trucker' was.
I managed to sire 12 bastards with one Byzantine Emperor I was playing. Half the fun was checking up on them several generations down the line to find out where/how their progeny were. The great-great-great grandson of one poor bastitch wound up becoming King of England. [e digicons]|-)[/e]
I don't really think it's fair to be comparing EWOM to D3. Sure, D3 has a lot of races, and a dizzying variety of units within those races. But most of them also look like this: Nice enough, but by no means to the graphical style which EWOM is shooting for. Quality is usually gained at the sacrifice of quantity, and vice versa. But EWO
Bastards were one of the best aspects of Crusader Kings, a game which also focuses heavily upon dynasty systems. Getting too frisky with the nearest milkmaid or turning a blind eye to your husband/wife's philandering not only resulted in the occasional pissed off and homicidally-motivated spouse, it also presented opportunities for full-blown succession wars. I hope Elemental will have at least some functionality for the same sort of consequences.
So what was the almighty announcement? If it's ' Pre-Order Dawn of Discovery Gold and get a free copy of Heritage of Kings: The Settlers ', I am decidedly underwhelmed .
