As a Empire summoner the familiar is VERY powerful when combined with the swarm mechanics. I think the low hp is justified.

I used to in FE but it doesn't seem possible in LH. There are simply not many low level champions available. I think you get 2 before they start coming with their path already chosen. But if you turn the first 2 into governors its almost too late in the game to level the 3rd unless you have access to quest maps.

Ahh the Season of Blood. I actually like it, its a hell of a surprise the first time. I actually lost a game because I was in the middle of all the other empires and wasn't ready for that event. Now that I know its a possibility its not such a big deal. I just have to be prepared in case it happens.

I use them quite alot with all factions. I settle a couple cities I don't plan to develop very much to provide all the pioneers. I use stables + High Towers to make one major "highway" through my empire for troop movement. I use them on choke points that don't have a spot that can be settled. +50% attack / +25% defence / Half spell cost and double map speed for me/half for my enemy is huge. If Steam works for the majority of people, and not you, maybe Steam isn't the problem.

In my game you can summon them, but I get the 3x3 thing as well. It works if you select an enemy as the center tile; and it spawns on the same tile as the target. The game also sometimes "forgets" you've summoned an Air Elemental, and lets you summon a 2ed! It correctly remembers that the other summons have already been....summoned.

I added them back in FE and will in LH as well (Once beta is over). They are both pretty good factions. But the AI doesn't seem to be able to use Beastlord well. I agree, let it be modded. My biggest thrill is finding a great tile; and personally I prefer essence over everything else. But since tiles became capped I very rarely see a capped tile with 3 essence, even if it should have it. 4 essence tiles are practically impossible to find now. I think I've already found my favorite thing: Summoning/Necromancy trees + an imp. 18 skeletons + the troops you brought after one round. Sure the ones from the imp are weak, but with swarm even weak troops are useful.

Have you tried checking your firewall settings? For some reason my firewall flagged the LH activation and was blocking it.

Wolves are scary now. A large pack of wolves are stronger than a Lich.

I'm having alot of fun as well. The only change I don't like is swarm attacks. I'm sure with time I'll get used to them.

I don't want to see city defenders with top gear. Militia with Boreal blades doesn't do it for me. They should upgrade, but be limited. I think that a good place would be one tier below current tech, and limited to non-magical equipment. So if you have plate and Yew longbows the Militia Archers would get chain and regular longbows. I double checked to be sure; the steam version is at 1.32. No idea when they pushed it out but it shows that I downloaded the update about 2 hours ago which was when I got home and logged in. So it might not have hit steam until today.

It would make sense, but it would make anything heavier than leather useless outside of Capitar/Yithril and units in plate useless in general. Gilden and Yithril would be hit very hard in particular because because of their heavy unique weapons. Regular troops are already very disadvantaged vs magic; slowing them down would make it a slaughter whenever you fight a unit with offensive magic. Lightly armored spearmen would be even better at crushing heavy infantry than they are now.&nbs

I dislike it because there aren't really "special" tiles anymore. It seems like there isn't nearly as much variation on most tiles. Sure sometimes you'll run into a 1/6/0, 6/3/0, or 4/5/0 but high essence tiles seem to be a thing of the past. It really comes down to what resources you were lucky enough to find, and what your blood/faction bonuses are. Krax is my favorite pre-made faction because one handed spears rock and its one of the few factions that doesn't NEED anything. You can play a complete game without crystal and metal if you have too. The equipment in the magic tree is very good; but I think its balanced by the insane crystal cost. I've never had a full army with champion armor and end game magic weapons. By the time I've got that much crystal I could have won the game several times with cheaper units. Its great for champions because you can buy it with gold; but for regular units I just find crystal far too precious for such units until the game is already decided.

I usually make them surrender rather then kill them. Even if they don't have good traits you can use them as a governor; and sometimes they have good gear. Or if your evil there is always steal spirt. A Master Death/Life/Fire mage is fun.
