The test version shouldn't require you to buy the DLC to get access to v4.0. Are you saying it hasn't been updated to v4.0 yet ? If so, you'll probably have to wait tomorrow for it to show up over there. Do you see the Test Version in your Epic Library ?

Thx for the report! Gonna pass it along ;)
Glad you figured it out! And thank you for letting us know what was the issues. This could help out other gamers running into the same problem. ;)
What did you use to unpack the .faction file ?
This is really strange. Having the game installed on another SSD is fine, that should not cause any issue. Do you see anymore error message in debug.err found in %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\GalCiv4\ that could give more clues as what is happening ? Else, from what you're describing everything seems to be as it should, so let's try something a bit deeper to make sure you PC and Windows installation is not the problem. In an Elevated Command Prompt (in r
Is it on OneDrive or some equivalent ? Another idea would be the %username%, is it using some kind of strange character specific to your language ?
Rename it and let the game recreate it, see if that helps!
The GC IV data folder is found at %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\GalCiv4\ Do you see any reasons why on your system that folder would be inaccessible ?
That's clever! So doing that you can play with the other tech trees with your custom civ ? You could lock the .faction file down so it cannot be overwritten as another work around I would think.
Indeed, it's a known issue and the devs are aware. Thank you for bringing it to light again! If you want to experience the custom tech tree I would suggest to play with the vanilla civilization that uses them, that is the Nyx or the New Terrans.
And if you end the turns that doesn't fix it ? If so, can you share a save file showcasing this ? You can find them in %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\GalCiv4\Saves and share them over on discord at https://discord.gg/galciv or using your preferred file sharing method.
Ahh, yeah. Once all the territory is revealed does the flickering stops ?
That's strange. First time someone reports something like this. What do you mean by "using the exploration treaty" ?
Hiya, What do you mean by "open the map" ? What "map" key are you referring too ? Did you try renaming %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\GalCiv4\ and letting the game recreate it at launch ?
Thx for the report. It's a known issue but I'll bring it up again to the team.
how do players report bugs?
You can do so right here in this forum or you can do so on the elemental discord at https://discord.gg/qvVQEyryaY
You're right, that is strange. I'll bring it up to the team. Do you happen to have the save file showcasing this ? If so can you post it on discord, latest sitrep will do.
That's a good question! I don't know; I would think those would be much safer, but I could be wrong. I wouldn't worry about them for the moment, unless the crashes persist. Having said that, I'm pretty sure the devs are aware of this and will work to mitigate the issues and fortify the game against faulty workshop mods. Keep your crashing save file around, and test them out on the next patches, see if they eventually continue without issues. That would be a good way to know that you'r
Well that's quite unfortunate but I don't think the bundle is at fault. I've actually tested this last week and was able to get a game well into the 300 turns on a gigantic galaxy without any issues. The crashes are most likely caused by the Custom Ships models and Civilizations from the Steam Workshop. Those are known to be crash prone sadly and have been the cause of most crashes like that in the past and present. My advice would be to unsubscribe from all the Workshop mods, ship mo
Thanks for sharing the solution that you found!
That outdated mod is the bane of our existence lol. So many people report broken games because they uses it. From what I gathered it's a full replace mod (it replace the whole XML file instead of only modifying the relevant entries) which is the worst way to mod the game as far as long term compatibility since you have to completely redo the modded file everytime a patch does a small modification to it. It would be much better to use the ModifyDataDef method as well as RemoveDef metho
Fair enough! I had indeed forwarded it to the proper sitrep channel, but forgot to tell you that I did hehe. You're welcome!
Thx for the report and the save! Since you had already posted it all on Discord though, there was no need to post it here as well. ;) Discord is even better actually since you can just drag and drop the various files (unless they're too big). In all cases this has been shared with the team.
I did pass it along to the team, with the save file you provided, so they are aware. Thx again for the report!
Ahh yeah, that's probably what happened!
