Uninstalled and re-installed game from Steam, was able to play for a couple/few hours tonight without a crash or hang, much better than the past couple days. Seems to have done the trick.

Yeah, for me it's usually hanging between turns but I'm also getting random crashes, I hope these problems just go-away with a new patch and it's not some idiosyncrasy of my machine.

The game seems to be having a higher incidence of crashes since the update. Could be cognitive bias but I don't recall crashes being frequent enough to be an issue before and now I feel disinclined to play because of them.
