Snaking networks of roads don't appear overnight. And especially not through the wilderness. One way to do it would be to let Caravans generate roads when they successfully travel between cities.

The legendary heroes expansion came as a surprise to me, and I jumped right into the beta without knowing anything in advance. For those who were waiting for some feedback from players before trying it out: this is what I found so far after finishing my first game. The weapons system is far better than than before! Gone are silly design decisions such as the difference between +2% piercing or +2% blunt damage that didn't really do anything for me in Fallen Enchantress. Instead the

I don't think this is so unbalanced at all. It seems that the "Dance with dragons" is just another ending to the game just like the forge of the overlord, only more satisfying than building a few buildings and casting a spell. It is made for games that have drug on for much longer than they should have. The tech is placed at the farthest end of the tech tree, so it seems like it was deliberately put there as a game ender to me. Whoever researches it first, and takes the dragon lairs, wins

I believe you mean the Urxen and the Mancer races? They are still in the game files, and can be activated. When I got FE it was at a point in development when they were already oficially taken out. I'm not sure why. Maybe they dominated the other AI's too much during playtesting? Or maybe the other way around, and they were too weak? Maybe someone who has played long enough to remember that can answer this question. Despite them being taken out I liked

Short answer: I doubt AoW3 will be all that great. Give FE a chance, wait for LH expansion if you are in doubt. Long answer: I've extensively played both games, and I can think of pro's and cons for both game series: The AoW series started out great, but gradually went downhill to the point that I'm not sure how excited I am about AoW3 anymore. AoW1, the first game is by far the best. It had the greatest single player campaign I ever played in

Ahh now I understand. I would have wasted a lot of time figuring this out myself. Thanks, Heavenfall!

Hopefully these questions weren't asked many times before. I tried looking on this forum and elsewhere, but didn't find the answer. When I browse the GFX folder I see three types of files: .PNG files: Texture files. Very easy to edit with various photo editing programs .DDS files: Texture files. I've been able to easily edit These with GIMP (after installing a plug-in) .HKB files: 3D files with the textures added into them? I have bee

I too hate it when this happens, but I'm not sure if I want it completely removed as it does make the world feel much more threatening; though i don't see a lot of players on this forum that would be in favor of having it taken out entirely. In most fantasy strategy games I've ever played the monsters feel more like farm animals patiently and meekly waiting in their lairs to be harvested for their loot. I loved Age of Wonders in general, but the extremely weak and t

I agree with this! The outposts should be more like fronteer villages. I've already completely replaced the default tiles in my game to "look" more "town-like". My kingdoms already have a far more natural feel to them this way, but I still think that they should be able to defend themselves against a single pack of wolves or a pioneer at least.

I once made a custom roleplayed Amarian faction. The story concept was that they were a Magocracy of rebellious mages opposed to Queen Procipunee and the rest of the nobility. Being a splinter faction of outcast mages and no nobility = no knights, I figured I should pick the "unarmored" trait for them. Storywise I reasoned that lack of restraint, ethics and reckless use of magic should make them vulnerable to it's effects, so I picked "weakness to magic" as well. In exchange I picked all

I was under the impression that conquered cities remained the way they were. I think i've seen Fallen cities retain their art style after being conquered by my Kingdom faction. Or do you mean that you should be able to use the conquered peoples as army recruits?

I agree with this. I don't even want to see any high-end gear, I think there is enough of that. I would like to see more variety in the lower end items such as different styles of leather armor or cloth items or more variety in the generic weapons.

Thank you DsRaider and Heavenfall! This was very helpful and made me figure out exactly what I was doing wrong. You were right! We can't change the default tiles. If we do so the game simply copies the default versions right over your own creations on restart. But it will still work if you save the tiles under a different name and make sure you alter the Artimprovements file in the data folder so that it uses your new files. And I also discovered something new on the way! It turns

Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum. I continue to be amazed at the game, and have very recently started trying to mod it as well. Actually, it's more swapping some pictures and altering a few tiles in the workshop than actual modding. I'm a big fan of the game's art direction. The whole game looks beautiful and very believable for a fantasy world. However, i never liked the look of the default "outposts". Instead of seeing only large cities with a huge amount of glo
