It'll help against archers.
It might, but thats IF they have both archers and other units in a mixed army - the AI was never smart enough to field the correct mix let alone use it. It would seem that a lot of units that used to be fast and able to keep away out of fights when not needed (wolves and such) will now get attacked and killed? I havent played the game with the new combat system obviously but it

So you have just gone and thrown out unit movement speed out of the equation(dont see the point in a unit with 4 speed anymore as far as tactical battles go) Am I missing anything?

If you disagree with this then you've been spending far too much time in the company of your peers. You guys can spot a good game, especiall
I honestly think you engine could offer a very good game. This is a very good opportunity for creating a revised game with different rules but using the same content - perhaps even killing off some parts of the game and introducing another, at the very least you have the change the mix and tie it all together - this is the hard part. That being said many key elements of Elemental are flawed. And it is again spread too thi
How about we just concentrate one the one thing that is personally keeping me from playing this game(and i have heard others not playing for the same reason)? DUMB AI, combat and strategic Look at games like Eador - this is an example of how to make a good combat AI as well as the whole tactical system being great, on a pretty large field with strategic tiles that matter, etc. And this is a game that was made by just a couple of people. I know that's&nbs
Until devs ditch the failed concept of having the AI play the same game as the human player (it can't), I don't think this problem is ever going to be fully solved. AI can be written to perform fairly well in restricted environments (ie, tactical combat), but it's never going to be as good as a proficient human player on a strategic level. <br
Quoting willie sanderson, reply 13Cmon now how hard is it to make an AI that will STOMP us humans? In terms of raw processing power, modern computers are dumber than insects. We rely on human insight to turn their capabilities into something useful, but ultimately that use is still a reflection of human understanding. In other words: this is hard.
you would be very wrong about the insect thin
I posted this a couple of month ago. Got flamed. The problem is that the AI cannot play this game beyond training stuff in the cities. The AI does not "understand" the traits and other stuff, it just has algorithms that tell it what to produce. The most fun in this game usually comes from conquering the surroundings. I dont know though why the Devs cannot design a less suicidal AI that is capable of producing stacks of varied units and is capable

Valentine82 Your critique of this game is not going to work on these forums because most of the users are people that have been around for a couple of years and invested a significant amount of time into this game. I don't think there is any point in arguing because you will get stomped tot he ground rather than any meaningful discussion as to wh

Yes, and that ways lies the dreaded 'streamlining'. Lets also make it so that there is no gameplay benefit for manually designing troops, for manually fighting your tactical battles, for manually choosing what you are buildings, and for manually choosing where to
There is still some low hanging fruit the AI hasn't made good use of that I'mworking on. For example, it's still pretty rotten about using strategic spells and it's rotten at late game researching that's going to just require me to do a bit of hard coding to make it better at FE specifically. In tactical, the AI is still poor about using items it finds. Bottom line, there's a lot of area
BTW, TO ALL THOSE WHO ENJOY THE GAME - I REALLY FIND IT GOOD THAT YOU DO AND PLEASE CONTINUE TO DO SO, THIS POST DOES NOT MEAN THAT OTHERS SHOULD NOT ENJOY PLAYING THE GAME. OR THAT IT IS A BAD GAME! I just wanted to point out the things that dont work for me and what the game lacks for it to run it into a great game. If you enjoy the game that is great and I am sure this game will get better with time. Please do not think I post this to HATE the game, i really do have better

It's the veteran MP gamer. It's not too surprising, since most games these days are built and targeted at the dedicated MP gamer. And most online game forums are filled with the same. This gamer is the kind of person who has been trained by years of MP gaming to find the "best strateg
Magic in this game is actually great. You just need to level up a proper mage with access to at least 3 schools of magic. Mages dominate when properly done. As for using champs, if you don't like that option you can always spawn a map with zero champs. It's just an option in the map generator.
Since you have played the game a lot and should be good I challenge you to play rid/rid or expert/expert iron man

I personally put 200 hours in on Civ 3 and at least that on Civ 4 + FFH2, not to mention the hours I spent on Alpha Centari, X3, Colonization, and several others. The truth is that these gam
