if all you do is look at the empires from an outside point of view they do look bland but if you actually play them they play completely different to one another, one strategy may not work for another at least in my opinion so i guess you can say i disagree with your assessment.
This is one of the first things I changed in my own game. I was wondering if you found where to add the tooltip string. When I go to make a new map and pick one of my new map sizes the string says "String not found"
the tool tips strings are located in the elemental.str file. just do a search for worldsize within the file.
the question i have is, does the AI actually use these spells?
i wish there was a way stardock could give us the original world map as a playable option in FE for those of us that wants to risk the performance hit unless it's simply not possible with the current FE engine
i don't know about more AI's as i haven't looked into it, but there is a place to change the max ammount of turns from 1000 to something else, i believe it is the elementaldef.xml file in the data/english folder. I don't know if it works or not but i would assume so.
check Ecomental or FE-Enhanced in the modding section
as long as ecomental has no downside using the beta .99 files as they are different to 1.0 i would say go with ecomental myself as the author of that mod has much larger plans to fix the map generators by doing new and better stamps for it. This is coming from the author of Fe-enhanced, i know when to admit i don't have the talent to do what some of
diplomacy as a whole needs to be completely reworked, i'm sure that will come with future patches and expansions. Afterall to me galciv 2 had one of the best diplomacy systems IMO but that was not really until the last expansions for it.
I am busy figuring out stamps but the .99 eco or this mod should work fine. And just an FYI all the problems with the maps come down to problems with the stamps, this mod or ecomental will give you bigger maps and a little better adjustment of the stamps but nothing can be fixed until we have an really good library of well designed stamps, and the problems with that now are 1) having to constantly reload the gam
I would expect performance in the late game to be very slow on maps this big. Hope it's not though. How cool would it be to have all the wildlands?
you are right some should expect possible performance issues, but the options for larger maps is there for those that want to take that risk :)
so what's the difference between this and Ecomental? https://forums.elementalgame.com/433981 you could probably add in Ecology and Lush map types from that also is this compatible with sean and heavenfall's mods?
There actually isn't much of a difference now that i look at it other than ecomental being for the last beta versio
FE: Enhanced v1.0 FE: Enhanced will be a series of modular mods that are designed mainly for my own personal use but will release them here for others to try if they see fit. It may also not include work that is my own but permissions will be gotten in such cases and listed in credits. Installation </
Is there a specific site to upload mods to for FE such as the Nexus sites for oblivion etc? or are we confined to just using places like rapidshare? If so maybe someone will start up a dedicate FE mod site. I would if i had the money to do so.
Overall, I'm pretty disappointed with the modding tools in their current state. I hope the situtation improves. If it doesn't then the FE modding future doesn't look so good.
you do realize that most companys that allow modding don't even release tools for its games, they leave it up to the community to come up with their own for the most part. So i really don't see how the state of the tool
I actually found that you get more map for your money by adding more stamps to the current sizes and reducing the minimum amount of water. There is way too much wastes space on the stock map generations.
This is what i'm doing also, i'm lowering map gen chance of things like water, moutains, chasms etc and upping the chance for things like forests, fertile lands etc in the terraintypes. So in the end regardless of map si
this isn't free but bandicam is really good, it's better than fraps IMO
i'm working on some map changes that i may release. It adds 2 more sizes huge and gigantic with gigantic being the largest size possible without throwing a warning upon game creation. Huge is (10x8) and gigantic is (12x8). I'm also working on some terrain changes to go along with the map sizes.
Go into "options" and disable auto-turn. I've no idea why anyone would prefer that option turned, I turn it off in every single turn-based game I play. It should be off by default. Problem solved.
^^^^ what the above said
i want to change it 12 turns for one year but i really believe now that the 4 turns /per year is hard coded. Everything i have tried just doesn't work, the only places you see to change anything to do with seasons is in the elementaldef.str file but those are the strings not the actual values. In the elementaldefs.xml where i would expect it to be it is not, atleast not specifically to do with turns /per year etc.
i had some FPS issues at first, i was only getting around 25 fps at start and quickly droping to around 10 but after investigating my system was not properly switching from my onboard gpu to the discrete gpu for some reason with FE, works fine with others. I simply told my control panel instead of auto select gpu to always use the discrete and my fps went to 60+. Not sure yet what it will be as the game progresses as i've been testing some modding ideas of mine instead o
it could be in the elementaldefs.xml in your data\english folder. harpo
I think it is hard coded, been looking myself. Maybe someone in the know can shine some light on it.
dismissing a whole review just because of one word is a little too much, but we all have our point of views. I don't dismiss the review but take little merit in it because of the perfect score 10/10. No game ever deserves a perfect score. I would say 8/10 personally thus far.
i love how some of those user reviews there seem as though the user never played more than a few minutes.
