If expert is getting too easy, try playing on ridiculous with a badass custom faction. I'm about ready to give up playing on insane because it's getting too easy. Basically you just have to work out things that are force multipliers that will make your stack of doom a Stack of DOOM. I only make henchmen units in my cities. I use a beastlord mage for my Sov so by the time I am ready to make units at all in any city I have a full army of bears or spiders that are much better tha

I found a wandering Clambercoil dragon, killed it with same group of Sov, umberdroth and 5 hirelings... 1353 XP for my Sov. The only difference between the two fights was that one was part of a quest. The dragons were both lvl 24, I even killed them both with the same spell. I get that the quest one also gives me the Ivory Helm, and it is a nice item, but i can get loot like that anywhere. For 21.47 times more XP I'd rather find a randomly wandering dragon than the
Not that erratic. I first noticed the problem when I was doing the quest, I think it was "Track the Garrote", where you have an encounter where the option is to "Pass by the Slags" or abandon the quest. When you pass by them they attack: it's a River Slag and 2 Slags. I was looking for a fairly large chunk of XP for the fight, but it was only like 100 or so per member of a group very similar to this one. The next turn in that game I fought a single Slag in its lair, ended with like 300 XP
It's something I've been noticing for a while: whenever I fight a group of monsters that are wandering the map, versus a group of monsters that are part of a quest spawn, the XP reward is massively different. I haven't taken many screenshots previously because I wasn't totally sure. Last night I picked up the "Hero's Tomb" quest, where you return a Helm to a gravesite, only when you get there it's a fight with a Clambercoil dragon. My Sov is a death archmage with Savan
Isn't the Scepter of Dominion the one you obtain from Waerloga the Dragonlord to win the game? I don't think it actually shows up as loot at the end of the battle, but it's mentioned in the text.
Fixed a gamesave corruption issue Fixed crashes
These are the two most important ones! I have stepped away from the game several times now because of the savegame corruption problems. if you can really get this fixed it will make my playing experience about 10 times better.
Cast a spell on the enemy that auto-declares war. For example, Curgen's Volcano or Broken Loyalties. I know broken loyalties works, and I think the other will work as well. I imagine there are other ones that would work, try your whole spellbook if you need.
I like playing on insane, the trick I have found is to max out your champions. The AI can research much faster, but if you focus on getting lvl 9 champions, you can usually have the tech by around turn 30-40. I usually do my research in the order of Civics, Knowledge, then go straight for Breon's letters. I do civics so I can rush out pioneers and scouts (I modify the scouts to have the stealth trait, which doesn't work as well as the faction stealth trait but I think it's better
I notice one thing that has changed since you updated it last... the "Sweep" skill isn't necessarily on the assassin path, and doesn't require double strike. I've had it with Defenders, Warriors, and Assassins. @ BernieTime : The Truestrike skill may seem moot, but it does that 75% of damage regardless of the AC of the target, so it's sti
I have been having issues with loading/saving ever since the launch. I have it set to autosave every turn, and I also usually do at least 1 save per turn, sometimes more if something really good happens. When the game first came out it would crash a lot when I tried to load it without exiting all the way to desktop, so now I avoid that by exiting all the way to desktop every time I load. Lately though, I have been getting crashes when trying to save it. I think it started around patch 1.12 or
Is this list stickied somewhere? It should be.
Oddly enough, last night I beat the game on Insane/Insane with a score of only 56,413. I won with a master quest victory in turn 84, but my sov was only level 9 or 10 and I only had a population of 1,263. So it would seem to me that population and Sov levels might be weighted more heavily than time, since my score over 100,000 was in turn ~120ish with a sov of level 20 or so and a population of over 10,000 (wanted to get that achievement). edit: Oh and I
What difficulty level are you playing on? The higher the difficulty, the higher the score. I wasn't paying attention to end-game scores until the last three games, but I know my first few on lower difficulties were in the teens. The last three games were 30,000; 101,000; and 41,000 ~ish. Of those three, the middle game was in Ridiculous world, with Insane AI, the other two were Ridiculous world with Ridiculous AI.
Is there a link to the skill list anywhere? I saw one that someone had made, but I have no idea where I saw it. I like to know what prerequisites I need for certain skills, but I can never remember which ones I can get at what level.
Did Inslow get moved from the list of starting champs with this patch? I hit ctrl-n literally 40 or 50 times without seeing him. He's my favorite one for the +1 research, makes the first 20 or so turns much more crucial. He's absolutely useless in combat, but it's nice to get him up to lvl 2 and stick him in a city somewhere.
It was odd, but I noticed that mass curse wasn't working last game either, but now both of them are. Just fought an ashwake dragon on my new world and it properly feared me. Maybe it was an issue with that group of savegames?
I've seen that happen as well, it goes away if you zoom in a little usually. This will actually prevent you from moving at all. If you click to any square that doesn't contain an enemy, your champ just sits there like you didn't tell him to do anything at all. My guys have 10-13 movement points, so they can run literally anywhere on the battlefield unless there is a solid line of enemies blocking them, but if I click anywhere besides an enemy nothing happens. It's just like if
I have to disagree. Champions just aren't that useful in the grand scheme of things. For a champion to be good, you have to nurture them and level them up a lot, put fancy gear on them, etc. Because of the way they share XP (very badly) combined with a limited amount of stuff to equip, dungeons to explore, and monsters to kill, means that imo you're rarely accomplishing much by having more than 2-3 champions
I
BTW I wasn't talking about the initiative of the units, I see really nothing wrong with that system. My units get to act, they just don't get to move first. Usually when it is a unit's turn, they will move first, then act- i.e. either cast a spell, attack, or pass. What's happening is then when it is their turn, they won't be able to move first to perform their attack. Usually the battlefield will be highlighted in green squares where they can move to before performing the
I've noticed recently that dragons aren't causing fear at the start of tactical combat like they used to. I haven't seen any posts about it recently in support forum, and I don't think I had a problem before the 1.02 patch. I didn't notice for a while because I didn't have any dragons on my own side to fight with, and battles against them are rare. When I hover over the ability in their character screen the button is blacked out, but the tooltip still says fear will be
+1 to this idea. I don't often have the enemy capture cities, but it happened last night and they destroyed it the instant they had it, didn't give me a chance to recapture. I had an army that could take it back less than a turn away, but they insta-razed it and I couldn't rebuild.
Yeah um those 'unresearchable' techs are repeatable. You keep researching them, you increase the associated bonus. Awesome, is it not?
I have played through several times and wondered why I could not get those techs finished myself. There is no indication that they are repeatable that I could see anywhere in the tooltips, maybe the dev team could put a note about it somewhere?
Anyone know how to remove it from my spell list? I'm tired of seeing it pop up in the shortcut keys of casters.
The Autofinishing of buildings doesn't really bother me anymore, because that just means that when I capture the city I won't have to build them myself. The AI "cheating" does me a favor in that regard. If they happen to autofinish a Juggernaut though... I guess more XP for my main stack?
I have no idea if it's the intended design. But note also that if units join your army in the field (and not in a city) that they will not see any benefit from tireless march unless you recast it. So even if it's not by design I think it's a feature because it's better than having to pay additional mana to bring a new unit up to speed.
I'm pretty sure that's wrong. I run a stack full of
