It's funny when people call it hating just because someone's opinion doesn't coincide with theirs. So lame.
I feel the same as OP. I started about ten games and didn't finish any. My record is about 100 seasons. Playing every sovereign is the same: leveling heroes and city spam that really leads nothing. The game just doesn't keep you playing. FE doesn't give you enough incentives and aims for each moment of playing. Really you can skip many turns and nothing changes. So you play or you don't play - nothing really changes. It seems the game i
User reviews might not have the same value as professional reviews in a lot of cases but they are not totally worthless either.
User reviews are total crap. This game sucks because it's steam only!! This game is crap because it's a sequel and doesn't have this minor part of the game or changed from 3rd person to first person! Player reviews are total shit.
That's just plain ignorant.
I didn't like GalCiv 2 and I don't like FE. I guess that makes me a Stardock hater/troll. [e digicons]:troll:[/e]
I think the Rock/Papers/Scissors review nailed it. This game plays more like a toolkit for modders when it actually should have been a great playing experience 'right out of the box'. I think it has the potential to be a good game after some modding but shouldn't it be a good experience before modding? That being said, I think the ugliness of the game really screws the experience up for me as much as anything else and I'm not sure that's something the modders can fix.
That R/P/S review nailed it on the head for me.
I don't agree that a game should ever be given a pass with the "Mods will fix it" excuse. For one thing, sometimes quality mods just never materialize. Secondly, it can happen more often than not that a mod doesn't fix the things you think should be fixed, or it fixes those things but then adds other things that you really don't like. If a game can't stand on its own out of the box then it should
Game of the year? Not even close.
I totally agree that there should be edge scrolling.
I have to agree here. Never liked the art style (very ugly to me) but it is a moot because a strategy game does not have to be 'pretty' or look good if it does other things right. It does look a lot better than WOM but unfortunately it still has that similar look.
I actually used the word 'ugly' in my post originally but I decided to tone it down a bit with an edit. After having played the final release today
On the other hand, FE's strong points are the art, captivating graphical style...
Actually, those things are by far the weakest elements of FE. It's the reason why I can't understand some of the glowing reviews I've seen here. I don't need the latest bleeding edge graphics or art style in my strategy games but the graphics/art in FE are the biggest reason why I'm not all that impressed with the game so far. I'm no
I'm kind of sorry now that I pre-ordered it and downloaded the beta a couple days ago. I should have just waited and avoided the confusion.
I'm still unclear whether we have have to uninstall the Steam beta version before we can install the full version that's being released tomorrow. Can someone please give an unequivocal answer one way or the other?
