New build - new game. Creating a new sov, where has the recruit champions for free trait gone? Oh it's changed. The adventurer bonus that previously gave +8 HP is now recruit champs for free - oh well I can live with that. Off we go, exploring, expanding and all that. Yup, recruiting champs is free.......until I discover the heroes technology - then I have to pay. Is this right? If it had mentioned that on the trait selection screen I probably would have chosen

One question re: ctrl+n - can I do it before I've founded my first settlement? If not how do I know what resources my settlement has?
Oh if only I knew that yesterday when I started a new game (several times). Thanks for the reply [e digicons]|-)[/e]
new player here - what's ctrl-N? I'm lame, I need a crutch [e digicons]:S[/e]
I use a viariant on the cugeldaclever process and as soon as I've founded a new town I rename it to prefix/name or name/prefix where; Castle Lenin etc Stalin College etc Trotsky Town etc Disclaimer - Above names purely for reference. The use of does
Is this available now or at release? I've turned on mods in the options menu, restarted etc but the workshop button is still greyed-out.
I am eternally indebted to this very helpful community - my latest game is going great - not easy - but still good, after all there must be some struggle involved. Thanks for the advise and tips I have one further question regarding henchmen - are they considered to be champions with regards to ow the exp is shared in a group?
Is anybody working on one?
I hear what you're saying re: luck. In my new game, I named my sov after my wife and ran a random spawn and got a great location and have some decent loot (that I will be able to use in a few levels) - and to boot she seems to be happy to let me get on with carving out a kingdom in her name - good job I didn't pick the ex-girlfirends name..........
Started a new game and doing a lot better thanks to the advice on here. Eternal gratitude. Just when you think it's going so well...an invasion of corpse spiders - wa - wa - waaaaah (on a muted trumpet). I have a few crap champs that I can tool up and throw at them to clear them - so no worries. I am currently advertising for a new team of explorers. The team in my employ at this time seem to like exploring the same area over and over, there's an unexplored vista wa
Thanks for the replies - I can already see improvements I will make to my approach. The first being not having an army of champs *blushes with embarassment*
I would consider myself a seasoned 4x TBS gamer. I have only recently heard of this game and on the premise(promise?) of the descriptions and reviews I've bought it and am currently playing the beta ahead of official release. I thought I would ease myself into it, as it is unfamiliar territory, and play a tiny map on easy. By the gods this is hard. I'm not rushing, I'm spending my time clearing my immediate environs of nasties (where I can), doing nearby quests, and
