I would argue that Fire isn't really a minimum investment damage school. Slow is maximally effective when you have it and maybe one or two levels of the traits that reduce resists (Prodigy?). That is a 2 - 3 trait investment. Fireball is 3 traits itself, it wants all the resist reducers and the -1 cast time AND it wants +20% damage traits as well if you want to use it at maximal effectiveness. Air is even lighter weight in that Haste is maximally utilized w

I do actually use slow a lot and I thought I had it in the list, but I guess I overlooked that one not from lack of playing it just simple oversight. Kill doesn't do a lot for me. I can see the value of Kill in the main quest and vs wildlands bosses, but I guess I don't play this way because it is too cheesy for me. I would rather shrink and slow it and then kill it the regular way. I beat the master quest with Kill once before and I was tremendously underwhe

This sounds like a problem that is meant to be solved by using outposts. Outposts force enemies to go through an area at regular speed even if there are roads present, and the roads still help the outpost owner. Caltrops make outposts even more effective at this function. If you place the caltrops strategically around your important cities, their zone s of control will just conquer them again right away if they get captured. If you can't get around from one

I would say that generally the player benefits more from roads than the AI does, so in general it is to the player's advantage to leave them in. Not that I wouldn't like to be able to delete roads, but I would put that really low on any priority list.

I think I would have to put them in this order from most to least powerful Air Life Death Water Earth Fire The spells I am using to build the ranking charts are these: Air - Haste, Cloud Walk, Aura, Titan's Breath Life - Heal, Aura, Shrink, Call to Arms, Sovereign's Call, Wellspring Death - Shadow Bolt, Blindness, Wither, Curse/Group Curse Water - Inspiration, Freeze,

Am I the only person that uses these? Usually right at the beginning of the game I will design a unit with the +3 HP trait, the +3 defense trait, and the +2 initiative trait with leather, a shield, and either hammer or spears (if using defensive). I commonly pick life magic so I can add +HP to trained units that way. It's not that unusual for me to end up with units that have 300+ HPs. <

Well, I did just fully complete a game with the exact same settings using a "fixed" Resoln in 200 turns and that was at a leisurely pace. For the game in question, the game putting me in the middle of a huge swamp slowed me down. Having all my cities with 6 total resources or less slowed me down. The race itself slowed me down. Having exp mobs get lucky one shot kills on both my initial units early game slowed me down. Having 0 crystals the whole game sl

Actually, a GT 740M is way behind a 5770 in performance. http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html 933 vs 1677 That means a 5770 is almost twice as good. That 5770 is also 2 generations old. We are on 7770s now and nearly on 8770s. That makes you 3+ generations behind. - Edit - I just wanted to throw it out there that a 5770 isn't a real gamer's card. The game was started after I patched to 1.4. That definitely isn't the problem. I have also started and completed other games since 1.4 was patched in and didn't experience this problem in those games.

More like I am playing with a really weak race and still winning anyway and I think they are weak. Any race can have an equally good mage sovereign, and better other stuff besides. If all the abilities of the race and all of the abilities of the sovereign were picked randomly, it would probably be just as good as Resoln is. There is just no cohesion there, you have to rely on really powerful spells because you don't really have anything else. Other races can

I would say try to make your capital on a 2+ essence spot and make it a fortress and after that use conclaves for all the cities that have decent essence. Mana/Research/and Production per essence is a really good thing to have a lot of for Conclaves. It really doesn't outweigh the Auras in usefulness, though. I wouldn't say that a 0 essence Conclave is worthless, but I would much rather have a 3/3/3 conclave than a 6/3 one most of the time.

My above mentioned game got corrupted and I can't bring it to a normal conquest victory, though I am at the point where my score is 200+ and both the AIs left are 75 or less. I think I have 10 conclaves and 2 towns or something counting what I made and conquered. Huge lack of crystals that game so I couldn't train any staff users. I had to go the whole game with 1 trained Hoarder Spider and the rest stuff spawned from shards. I think if my hero was anything

Somehow my game got massively corrupted. One of my champions has 2 swords. Regular ones with I think 11 and 18 damage. When I try to equip them they don't equip, but they do strange things instead. The problem may be related to conquering an outpost and then trying to shop at it in the same turn. After the bug occurred the game became completely unstable. Basically unplayable. Normally I never crash, but I can't finish this game because I cr

I am trying to play a base Resoln game now, just to verify my thoughts from above are still good for LH just with the base faction. Both my free units died in one hit when I was exping which I was kinda sad about. One of them was a crit the other was a crushing blow. I did manage to get a cyndrum demon up to 5 units and 2nd hero is a defender from Krax which is ok. I also have an ophidian and another cyndrum demon not yet at 5. Research is going by pretty quick

I haven't ever played as a Resoln player, but I have used a lot of Resoln abilities in custom races. Also, a lot of that stuff was in the base FE game rather than LH, so take the following with a grain of salt: My Thoughts I think that Resoln really spreads itself pretty thin. I think that if it was a bit more focused that it could do a lot better. In the FE base game, you could harvest shards from turn 1 and the second level shard harvesting tech for +

Try searching for Curgen's Tomb for ideas. Some people with the problem just didn't get/do everything. Example - https://forums.elementalgame.com/444111/page/1/

I have been using the same strategy off and on lately. I get the henchmen maxed out on the gold and the -unrest lines and then make another one. I had 9 or 10 of them one game. 500 gold each, plus 6 gold per turn or something each, and the huge unrest reduction each, both in their own city and empire wide. I was thinking of trying to win a 2 city game with 9 henchmen each <span style="fon

I don't really know why we have exp splits to begin with. I guess at some point somebody said that having 2x level 10 heroes is probably better than 1x a level 14 hero and that group space isn't really a limited resource. If you ignore the mage class for the purposes of the discussion, trained units aren't really that much worse than your average hero. If you have 2 heroes in a group you are necessarily preventing some other unit from occupying the second spa

What it means is that having an extra 15% or 25% doesn't help you very much. If it were the case that every level took the same exp (say 100) then having 15% would put you about 1 level ahead per 7. Every level doesn't cost the same, though. Each level costs more exp than the one before it. If you do the math with the formulas used in game a level 20 character would have some amount of exp. That would be the amount that you have without Potential.<spa

I don't see much reason to make this change. I don't really see any reason why they should get less exp than a hero for the same work either, but I definitely don't see why a 3 character unit should get any less than a 5 character unit. What is the reason that a 6 character unit should level half as fast as a 3 character unit? Does being around other people doing what you do make you collectively stupider? In a classroom sense, kids lear
