It's not a problem for me, and probably not for most of the people who've been with the beta for months. But with the game releasing in a week, a new player is going to have just killed an elemental lord for the first time (definitely a WOW moment in this game) and immediately encounter a bug. It'll kill the buzz.
This is another great example of the end user experience being overlook
The first one can be exploited by producing a leather clad unit for no metal, and then upgrading it for 4 metal, saving 38 metal in the process. You end up paying about 150 extra gold (the upgrade cost minus the production difference between chain and leather) for 38 metal which is one hell of a deal, most of the time. I've tried it, it works, as you can see below.
^This is not small. Great post. The upgrade system is definitely in need

Why have a different way to interact with Tactical for navigating?
Agreed. The battle camera should also snap back if set to do so in the options menu, and a few preset angles wouldn't hurt either.

As the title denotes, the technology currently being researched should only change if a new one is actually selected. It is far too easy for the user to accidentally change what is being researched just by flipping pages while browsing through the Govern menus. In the following picture, note that the technology currently being researched is Mining (1): For some reason, I have made habit of thinking

User interface is in the eye of the designer; whose responsibility is to ensure that it not only displays the necessary information, but also that it elegantly captures the audience by providing access to the right information at the right times. In the context of video games, the user interface needs to direct the end user through the game play intended by the dev

Honestly, the user interface does not represent the game's mechanics very well at all; which is a pity because the game itself is brilliant. Unfortunately, I believe this will be the number one issue amongst reviewers; and that at least a few weeks repairing the UI from the perspective of a new player are needed for the game to be truly launch worthy. You only get one first impression, and this is Elemental's second. It's scary how much potential this game has.

I see little reason to limit Fallen Enchantress to the classification of a 4x game. How long must we live in the shadow of Mr. Meier, and MOO? This is a genre defining game, containing elements of 4x strategy, role playing, tactics, and creative suite. The prospective market for FE is much larger than just players of 4x strategy games, especially with all the customization available.

Fallen Enchantress is already so much more than just a 4x game; with potentially a much larger target demographic. For just one example, it is also blatantly a RPG. As we see, in-depth tactical battles are a natural extension of this game's underlying mechanics. Like it or not, you have the Heroes of Might and Magic killer on your hands. The fate of the world already rests on the tactical skill of the player as they maneuver strategic terrain, especially if the
