In short: Air (2nd level) to begin with. Tutelage is THE spell to level up your heroes more quickly. BTW I just love the AI tweaks of 1.4 !

Awesome AI behaviour - 1.4 is getting near to perfection. Started in the middle of the map and had to guard EVERY border of my empire against marauding creatures. I just love the aggresiveness of the 'neutral' AI in 1.4! Waydago Stardock!

Hilarious! Will be paying more attention to this soon! Always thought the monsters were kinda picky. It does lower the experience though, especially when made aware of the fact (!). I share the masses who think that Stardock makes GREAT games. But it sounds like the artificial implementation of the Artificial Intelligence (never ending story) truly needs some overhaul on this one.
