I took a few minutes to monkey around with the ATI Catalyst "3d Application settings" to get it tp a state where the graphics disappear. By disappear is when you load a game and go to the map screen. The menus show but the map is a solid blurry shade of beige. The culprit setting is in the "Anti-Aliasing Mode" setting. Use any setting but the one in the middlie called "Adaptive Multi-sample AA" - That is the setting that breaks it. All of the other settings are OK to change. I hav

I had this ATI problem - Here is how I fixed it. On the task bar or from the start menu , start the "Catalyst Control Center" On the menu on the right hand side, select "Gaming" and "3d Application Settings" On the right hand settings panel - these are your default settings: For: Anti-Aliasing - set mode = "User application settings" Morphological filtering "unchecked" Filter = "standard" Anisotropic Fi

Same thing happened to me also. It locked up on the AI's turn with the "oppressor" character as the active combatant. I ended up having to kill the game with the "task manager". It was a large city battle with about 20+ units in play.
